On the outside it might look like you’ve got everything together. You are well liked, you know how to get the job done, you know what to say- but what people might not know is how much you are struggling with perfectionism and not feeling good enough. You often feel crushed by your own standards. It might not even matter how many items you checked off your list that day- it just never feels enough. If you are an anxious perfectionist you may: struggle with rejection, have the tendency to take things personally, have extreme anxiety about making mistakes and any sudden changes stress you the F out. Any of this sound familiar?

I never take lightly just how brave it is for a new client to reach out and ask for support. Therefore, it’s up to me as your therapist to do my very best to create a safe environment where you feel seen and heard; where you feel the confidence and freedom to explore your tender & hurt places and your strengths and gifts, too!

You might be seeking therapy because you’re feeling worn out, anxious, and out of alignment with where you want to be in life. Therapy can help you embody ways of being that support who you are and who you’d like to be in relationship to yourself, others, and the larger community around you. Every person comes to therapy holding unique stories, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, values, experiences, and behaviors. I offer a relationally supportive, collaborative, and warm environment where it all belongs and I would be honored to help you sort through it all.

Sometimes clients who reach out to me are struggling with identifiable issues - depression, anxiety, addictions, stress, grief, life transitions, or illness. Sometimes they're couples grappling with the fallout of infidelity or suffering from a loss of intimacy. And sometimes new clients don't even know what the problem is. They just know something isn't working. I've been practicing for over thirty years, helping individuals and couples gain a deeper understanding of themselves and each other so they can live whole-heartedly and in the present.

Therapy offers something unique: a space set aside for the sole purpose of getting to know your life. Many seek therapy out of the desire for change. As hopeless as a life or relationship can feel, the desire for change is enough to begin working towards something new. Therapy can be a great aid in this effort. Your struggles with anxiety, depression, sexuality, relationships, feeling lost and disconnected - are overwhelming to face alone. Through therapy, I believe these struggles can be bridges of connection, to life and those you love.

While a desire to find meaningful connection with self and others appears universal, the everyday experiences of life often hold quite the opposite. Trauma, betrayal, loss, addiction, big life changes (and we can go on and on), can contribute to a variety of mental health concerns, and perpetuate dynamics that are not life-giving. Such dynamics are hard to put into words, so you are left looking for a safe space to tell your story and gain more insight into what shaped you, what motivates you, and what supports patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve you.

At some point, many of us can be overwhelmed by feelings anxiety, anger, disconnectedness -- or maybe we simply feel stuck in life. These painful places are not just emotional experiences; they can also be seen as spiritual. They carry the potential to transform us. My goal is to help you discover greater freedom by connecting with your own deepest wisdom.

Healing means growing our capacity to give and receive love. Therapy can help with unblocking the channels so that love can flow more freely. When you commit to your own healing work, it can have powerful ripple effects in your family and community. It can interrupt cycles of interpersonal and systemic violence, and soften the way for future generations. It can also grow your capacity to work toward systemic change. Racism, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of oppression take a toll on our minds, bodies, and spirits. By reconnecting to self-love in the face of oppression, you can become a more powerful agent of transformation.

My practice leans toward supporting individuals who are feeling stuck, struggling in relationships, and/or needing a fresh approach to living life in such a way that you feel you have more control over your experience. We’ll work to understand identity and the roles that it plays, make shifts in internal and external communication habits, incorporate personal values in every-day living, cultivate patience, and treat each day as if you are living on purpose.

Waitlist for new clients
Hello and welcome! It's not easy being a human navigating complex systems and interruptions to our preferred narrative of life. Our agency can become overshadowed by biological, social, psychological, cultural, familial, and political expectations - leaving us feeling conflicted, fatigued, reactive, confused, and uncertain. Utilizing a unique combination of narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and polyvagal theory, I collaborate with clients age 13 and up, to identify how these expectations cause conflict and reconstruct experiences where the client can respond to life from a place of agency and Self.

I work with adult individuals (18+) who are looking to find greater balance in their lives. I have found that therapy is most effective when practiced consistently, and as such, I choose not to see clients less frequently than once a week.

Regardless of who walks through my office door and what issues they’d like to tackle, my first focus as a clinician is to provide a safe and collaborative space to let the work take shape. You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, a seismic transition, are unsatisfied with the direction and quality of your work or relationships, or just feel there are too many seemingly insurmountable barriers to living the kind of existence you want and imagine.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Seattle?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
