I work with a variety of modalities including individual therapy, couples and family therapy, and group counseling.
The decision of finding the right therapist for yourself, your child, or your family can create a lot of anxiety. Individuals and families are taking the risk of allowing me to share in their life paths and vulnerabilities. This is why I work to build a trusting, long-lasting relationship with you. I have extensive training and experience working with a variety of populations, including mild to severe mental illness, as well as diverse groups, including children, youth, adults, and families. I specialize in treating individuals with various diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, sleep disorders, and chronic pain.

Whether you are family or other supports, I choose to take that time to assess needs for all.
Relationships are one of the most important aspects to me when working with others and through life. I believe we find ourselves in various relationships throughout our days, weeks and lives. I taught elementary school for four years and had the chance to work with children and their families in a different aspect. My philosophy gradually changed to wanting to help families and children with their relationships and began my career with mental health. My current philosophy appears to involve getting to know one another on the client’s time.

I imagine if you are reading my profile you are seeking to feel respected, supported, affirmed, and/or accepted. I am a sex positive, kink and polyamory friendly therapist with a humanistic lens, who believes that you are the expert on your own experience and health. I am also a proud member of many marginalized communities and feel honored to be able to help my siblings and allies from all shades reach the change you seek for your own life experience.

Being different, thinking differently and living the choice of life one wants to live is something we all should be able to. However, that isn’t the reality we live it. If you find yourself unable to appreciate and celebrate yourself because of your cultural expectations, choices and societal pressures, you have come to the right place. My intent is to help you understand the anxiety, depression, trauma and relational distress that present as a result of the dissonance of your individual self. I can provide a supportive and empathetic safe space to help you be a medium of your own triumph.

Addiction is one of the toughest things anyone can face. It can be overwhelming, exhausting, and lead to lifelong consequences if left untreated. However, the truth is: We DO recover, and I do mean WE. My professional knowledge comes from a masters degree in addiction psychology, and my practical experience comes from my own journey of addiction and recovery.

I have years of experience working with young adults, parents/families, and educators to navigate the unique challenges each of these experiences can bring. I support clients in navigating life transitions, identity development, values clarity, emotion regulation, and shame resilience. I also work with clients on attachment-related relationship dynamics and challenges that stem from early childhood or other attachment injuries. By connecting in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space, clients are able to explore their internal worlds and gain clarity as well as a renewed sense of empowerment in their lives.

Sometimes we spend a lifetime searching for answers and trying to unravel the things that have occurred in our lives. Other times, we seek to learn about the future and pathways that we may want to lay out for ourselves. However, at the end of the day, we also need to learn about the present moments and how we transition throughout these various phases of life. Therapy is designed to provide support and a place of safety for the client to explore any and all things that may have already happened in their lives, and the events that may occur as their life continues on.

Don’t worry, hypnotherapy isn’t going to make you bark like a chicken. The day in & day out of racing thoughts, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, & feeling like this is NOT the life you signed up for, is getting old. The anxiety in your chest & constant chatter in your mind is exhausting & you feel completely stuck. Talk therapy just hasn’t cut it. It hasn’t been what you needed. Maybe there’s been some small steps of progress here & there but that DEEP healing & that light bulb moment of clarity - where the world stops and everything clicks? That’s what you’re after.

Many times I have heard people say, “I want to be happier” or “I want to feel better”, but they are not sure what this looks like, what it feels like, or what it even means. They have been struggling with anxiety, sadness, stress, or other negative emotions and experiences for so long, they feel like they have lost touch with what it means to be happy. If you feel like you can relate to these statements in some way, you may be feeling stuck or hopeless about a better future. I want you to know that the way you are feeling is not permanent, and it is okay to ask for help. I am here to support you and make you feel heard.

Life is not always perfect. There are ways to live through difficult moments a little easier. I like to think of counseling like a space where you get to explore, connect, and grow. There are many unpleasant moments in life that we carry and need healing. Finding the right counselor and space to heal and move on from painful memories is important. Counseling can sometimes feel scary, but when you don’t feel balanced it can carry into other aspect of your life. Like I tell my clients “I’m here for your counseling journey, for the great sessions and the bittersweet ones too”.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
