Welcome and thank you for taking the time to view my profile! I am a nationally certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor with 15 years of experience counseling individuals of all ages. My experience includes, but is not limited to: depression, anxiety, family conflict, trauma, addiction and working with expecting and new mothers. I also have experience and specific training in working with infertility and loss in pregnancy. I enjoy focusing on and implementing self compassion in my clients' lives. Together we will build a treatment plan and implement certain strategies to achieve your goals.

Life challenges are expected, but they can lead to feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, and stuck. You may be seeking therapy for immediate relief, or for resolution of long-standing issues that are hindering you from experiencing a more fulfilling life. I utilize interventions to maximize coping skills and address urgent concerns that may be interfering with your daily functioning. Exploring, addressing and resolving past issues, experiences, or traumatic events is also an important component of the therapeutic journey.

I strive to create an inviting, calm, non-judgmental, supportive, collaborative environment for you. My focus is working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, poor self esteem, peer conflict, family issues, grief, past adverse experiences, life transitions, or general life stress and overwhelm. Together, we can help you to build better life balance, positive coping skills, greater emotional regulation in addition to exploring emotional, spiritual, intellectual, career, educational, and physical/health related goals.

Navigating adversity while maintaining self-compassion can be difficult. I strive to provide person centered care to individuals, families and couples. My approach to therapy is individualized, with consideration of the uniqueness of each client's preferences and needs. I utilize trauma informed care with traditional therapeutic methods such as solution focused therapy. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University and my Master’s in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans. My office is conveniently located in Metairie, and I offer virtual/telehealth appointments.

We work with adults and couples to assist people with choosing solutions that help them improve their relationships by changing their behavior. We help clients look at their situations and problems as opportunities to explore their choices to work toward staying on track by meeting their goals in order to enhance their lives. We aid people in finding solutions for their problems instead of focusing only on the problem. This is a clinical outpatient setting and we help clients address all disorders listed in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual, 5th Edition - Text Revision (DSM-5-TR).

Over the last 15 years I have helped individuals and families with a wide range of issues, and have developed these specialties. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems theory, while adding an understanding of neuropsychological functioning to help my clients. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and a licensed addiction counselor with over 20 years experience. Life can present many challenges, and how we handle these adversities is the key to who we become and our success. Seeking professional help is the first step to change. Through the years, I have worked with both male and female clients ranging in age from 16 to 85. I have extensive training in substance abuse and co-dependency and over the last ten years enjoyed working with the elderly and their families addressing end of life issues along with dementia.

I believe in assessing clients on an individual basis, choosing treatment modalities that would be indicated for the particular problem/s of that person. I honor what the client wishes we set therapy goals accordingly. I work with adolescents and adults in individual, couple or family therapy bringing to treatment years of experience, a good solid knowledge base and a sensitivity towards my clients concerns. I have been trained to use hypnosis and E.M.D.R. in my practice. I have taught at the Tulane University School of Social Work as an adjunct professor from 1984 - 2014, 30 years.

In the 30 years I have been in practice, I have seen the incredible good that therapy can do and have been present to the wonderful changes people experience when they commit to it. I work with adults on issues such as relationship struggles (separation and divorce), anxiety and depression, and end of life challenges, including caregiving. When you examine your inner feelings, and can talk about them, life is less overwhelming. Therapy can be a powerful and rewarding journey.

I have 34 years of experience in mental health psychotherapy, so my practice is varied with Individual , group, couple and family sessions. I also do supervision and consultation. I am an adjunct professor at Tulane School of Social Work. I work out of an object relations perspective doing both short and long term work. I have experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, and relational issues. I also have worked on the licensing Board in Louisiana.
