My role as therapist is one of teacher and guide. I create a compassionate environment where my clients feel safe to explore many issues, including old pains and current difficulties. Through active listening and emotional support, I honor this very personal journey and assist my clients to create healthier, more positive approaches to their life decisions. By increasing self awareness and learning new coping strategies, my clients are better able to let go of what they no longer need and grow toward possibilities. This collaborative and trusting relationship encourages healing and transformation.

I work with clients of all ages to define their goals for therapy. I work collaboratively with physicians, social workers, teachers etc., to implement the most effective treatment possible. I have experience in a variety of settings; residential treatment, guidance and counseling K-12, and outpatient mental health. I completed level 3 Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. I've been married 30 years, have 2 children, one with ADHD, and been a foster parent. I incorporate whatever spiritual beliefs my clients hold into their healing process. My diversity of life experience contributes to my ability to empathize with your story.

As gender specialist and transgender individual, I cherish acceptance and understanding towards all variants of life. I have a lot of experience (personally and professionally) with the LGBTQ+ community. I also have extensive knowledge & experience with suicide, self harm, stress, crisis, trauma, & personality disorders. I have special interest and training in working with Couple Relationships. Most couples are reluctant to engage in therapy and wait longer than they perhaps should to get help. I have been working with couples since 1994 and completed a 2 year training at the Family Therapy Training Institute to receive my license in Marriage and Family Therapy. It makes a difference!

As a counselor, I so value the healing potential of human connection. My work focuses on helping people move through their pain and struggles, so that they can live life everyday, not just when the sun is shining.

My goal is to meet all clients where they are at on their journeys. Through the use of a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness, my clients have found peace and success in moving forward through difficult life situations. Each client has a unique story; I am determined to discover the story and assist the client in exploring the possibilities of a well balanced life. In providing a safe place to explore the feelings of disappointment, grief, anxiety, depression, and addiction, current and former clients have discovered these temporary vices prevent the client from moving forward.

Life is a journey and the secret to fulfillment is learning how to journey well. Everyone gets stuck at various points on the journey. Symptoms then emerge that vary with the individual, such as depression, anxiety, compulsions, sleep problems, etc. When we need help, we look for someone with experience and a good psychological base to help us discover why we are stuck and how we keep ourselves stuck. We want someone who will help us find our voice and not superimpose their beliefs and judgments on us. My Jungian ecopsychology framework also helps those who are worried about environmental issues .
