You may have tried books, talking with family/friends, but it doesn't seem to get better, at least not for long.
Let me help you move beyond trauma, anxiety, and depression, as life can be too hard to do it alone. I am a non-judgmental therapist who will listen with compassion and care. I'll use my 20 years of eclectic experience (DBT/CBT/EMDR/Psychodrama/Hypnosis, etc.) to help you work life's challenges and find your inner peace. If you want someone to really hear you, to help you find a better way of living and improve the way you look at life, then I am the counselor for you. I can help you grow stronger and find inner peace in the midst of the most difficult situations

Do you feel disconnected from your friends, family and self? Do you struggle with making decisions and feel as though time is slipping away from you? This is commonplace in our society as we are constantly being pulled in different directions by the demands of our world. I value the power of integrating one's mental, physical, and spiritual self into daily living so that we find purpose and happiness in the moment, regardless of the activity, and begin the process of recognizing what choices we have in our power to create the life that we find meaningful.

I work with individuals and couples seeking positive changes and healing in their life. This includes addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and life transitions. I help clients who are overwhelmed by distressing emotions, feeling trapped, and experiencing conflicts internally and in relationships. I support, guide, and educate clients, and help them find relief, joy, and purpose in living. Together, we work to build awareness and emotional resilience. Clients develop tangible coping skills while assessing their values and learning to care for what is most important, with renewed interest and appreciation.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
