Family, couples and LGBTQ welcome!.
Are you silently suffering by not using your voice? My therapeutic approach is to focus on helping you find the strength to use this voice and understand how anxiety might be getting in the way from you having the life that you want. Honoring your truth is the path to healing and creating healthy relationships. I will work with you to help reduce negative "self-talk" and better understand how anger, shame and guilt can actually help guide you to your authentic, more fulfilled self. Additionally, I have many years of experience in working with clients around the US and the globe via Tele-therapy.

I have been a family therapist since 1995.
I work with couples to help clarify their interests, examine their expectations, and review their relationship in a supportive setting. We explore solutions to help reinvigorate the admiration, affection and respect that brought you together in the first place. Most relationships have all the positive ingredients necessary for the long haul, but changing circumstances can cloud the good feelings that keep healthy partnerships humming along. I am dedicated to helping you reset your lives and make plans for a happier future. My values support diversity, gender equality, and fairness in all walks of life.

Whether you want support for yourself, your partner, your relationship, or the whole family - you are welcome!.
Birth and motherhood are meant to be addictive. Yet so many of us feel anxious in pregnancy, experience birth trauma and struggle postpartum. In a culture where mothers are not supported, and the system prioritizes "safety" above all, women are often left stuck in survival stress after birth of their child. But please know that healing, love, and joy is available for you. Whether you wish to process and integrate your birth experience, prepare for the transition to the new role, or address your hopes and needs in pregnancy or postpartum, I am here to walk alongside and hold space for you as you navigate the perinatal journey.

I partner with adults and adolescents who face anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, family conflict and challenging phase-of-life transitions.
My mission is to be of help to people with a variety of goals: to live well, to create oneself, to understand more deeply and grow, and to cultivate the kinds of relationships that give life meaning and joy. A therapeutic partnership allows us to explore our patterns of living—of thinking, relating, communicating and behaving—and remake them to make life more satisfying.

When someone in a relationship is an addict, unhealthy role shifts and power imbalances take hold. Once the substance abuser enters recovery, things begin to re-balance, and this power redistribution has potential for new problems. Couples and family treatment can help both partners or family members to work together to adapt to the challenges posed during this transition back to a fully-functioning relationships. Providing a safe therapeutic environment, I assist in navigating the challenges that face partners or family members once the addict enters recovery, including how to best to assist the recovering person and address life changes for loved ones.

I am offering individual, couple and family intensives.
I provide Body/Mind/Spirit Trauma Resolution tx that facilitates emotional & physiological healing, empowering clients to learn self compassion as they rewrite their life narrative. We often move through our old stories that influence our present. As an experienced practitioner of Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Psychodrama, I use body based action methods to bring clients into the heart of their stories. SE brings awareness to the connection between sensations and affect to free up the tangles in the nervous system caused by traumatic events that can result in living out of alignment with our true nature.

I'm specifically trained in Individual, Couples and Family Gestalt Psychotherapy, accentuated by cognitive behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing strategies, Family Systems theory, rational emotive theory, client centered and solution focused strategies.
If you are seeking to regain who you once were, uncover who you know you could be, become who you want to be, build on who you already are, or all the above, we can do that together. Life is something that just is; we are what happens in it. I work with you to reclaim what may seem out of your control, to step back into the driver's seat of your own life. We all struggle at times and it is not about how strong or weak we are, but how much support we have.

We will build strategies to improve the communication between family members: parent - child, sibling - sibling, spouse-spouse.
Has parenting become a battleground of wills, layered with guilt and tears? Are you tired of fighting every morning before school, at every meal and/or every night at bedtime? Are you ready for relief? Having over 20 years of experience in the field of social-emotional development of children, I offer Parent Coaching and Support with a compassionate and empathetic approach that encourages clients to embrace all aspects of being human. Each person in the home is impacting one another, and each relationship is impacting the whole family, so my approach holistically looks at the dynamic of all these relationships.

I have been an individual and family/couples therapist for more than 25 years - It is reassuring to see all the changes that have developed over time. There are so many options for people including brief consultations as well as video sessions. I think people today are more comfortable creating good smart relationships with therapists and are seeking out a good fit. The internet helps with this. For me, a good fit would be someone who is ready for work, has an open mind, and is curious about themselves and interested in making change. I am a clinician who is direct and fairly straIght forward as well as supportive and kind.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
