I offer a reflective and somatic-based experience utilizing trauma informed modalities such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems and Hakomi as well as alternative therapeutic approaches including Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.
Healing is an intimate journey towards ever greater wholeness (acceptance, compassion, and integration of all parts of ourselves). I value the sacred opportunity to join alongside you. Therapy is a unique endeavor; one in which you the client and me as therapist collaborate to create a space for the unburdening of life’s stressors, of pain, grief, sorrow, and confusion as well as space to seek answers to existential questions about what gives life meaning; being witness to your growth as you unfurl, soften, and ultimately discover deeper compassion for self and others.

Your uncomfortable symptoms may be what send you to therapy, but they can also serve you. You may feel overwhelmed or confused, and yet this is also an invitation for hope, curiosity, insight, and self-compassion. It is an opportunity to be able to access some of the deepest realms of yourself, to heal, and to move forward with greater confidence in your life. I work with individuals of all ages, and provide support for people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, adoption, trauma, body image and eating disorders, life transitions, individuation, co-dependence, overall work and family stress, and multicultural issues.

I am a wife, mother of four (blended family) consists of three girls and a boy; grandmother of four (consists of three girls and a boy)! I love to color, watch movies, read, enjoy time with my husband and my family.
I find that Motivational Interviewing has been a helpful approach for me to utilize with Solution Focused , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered to meet the client where they are and focus on their strengths to help them to identify how they can formulate the change that they are seeking in their life. I look forward to identifying the changes for the client to realize that the effort they are putting in is worth the work and effort that they put forth. I am just here to help the client enhance the tools that they already possess.

This is accomplished by using Mindfulness Self Study, Hakomi Therapy, Somatic experiencing and Internal Family Systems.
Three decades in private practice has reinforced my belief that much of our struggles are rooted in some of our earliest formative experiences. Our thoughts, emotions, perceptions and behaviors are largely shaped by impactful conditions and experiences. Patterns and strategies often become unconscious, automatic and at times destructive. This is often what brings us to therapy. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that allows doors to open through connection and compassion. My approach draws on many years of experience in the art of somatic based psychotherapies and depth oriented psychology.

I strive to help clients understand what is beneath the motivation of using harmful behaviors and attempt to help focus on self-compassion with an understanding that health and wellness is achievable. I like to view myself as a teacher of healthy coping skills where clients are able to over time, enact these skills in their own lives to have the confidence to make changes for themselves. Techniques used to help facilitate our sessions may include family therapy, exposure therapy, journaling and use of psycho-educational resources (homework, books, videos, etc).

I'm open to a broad client base but my predominant experience is with first gen college students, pro athletes & their family members. I ran the mental health services for UW athletics and am currently the consulting clinician for the Seattle Mariners and the NHL. I work best with driven people experiencing a big change. Perhaps, despite your best efforts, things aren’t working out as you’d hoped. Or perhaps you’ve gotten all you wanted and it doesn’t satisfy the way you thought it might. Though I often work with athletes I am not a Sports Psych. In fact, I don’t even follow sports! I’m here for the rest of your life and identity.

We seek help when an issue arises that we can’t seem to get through. In relationships, we might find ourselves having the same argument with our partner, family member or loved one over and over again. Maybe there’s an internal struggle we’ve tried to solve by reading self-help books or talking to our closest friends, only to find the problem is still a problem. That’s where I can help. Together we’ll identify goals and collaborate on a treatment plan. The beginning of any journey or change begins with acceptance, the proper treatment, and a healthier connection with ourselves and the world around us.

In addition to traditional talk therapy sessions, I also work well with clients who are seeking a holistic approach to address emotional, mental, and spiritual/energetic needs. The body-mind connection is integrated into individual sessions facilitated to your specific issue or life situation. Through counseling and/or Reiki, I work to assist you in finding or re-learning to trust your inner voice to help you more effectively deal with past trauma, or challenging family or social situations. I am highly intuitive, assisting you to clear what is blocking you energetically on emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual levels.

As a child and family therapist, I am here to help you in these difficult times.
I enjoy helping children learn to self regulate and express their feelings and experiences through play and the therapeutic relationship. Children in my office will be given a safe space to be themselves and express all the parts of themselves that they bring in the room. I will work with parents on linking goals with growth and attunement for their child. Together we will collaborate on the best way to help your child heal in the areas that they are struggling to process and understand better.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
