I'm not sure that I have an "ideal client". I am someone who is immensely curious about the human mind, who loves a challenge, and who always wants to help. I work with anyone and everyone and I'm always looking to experience something new! I am experienced in areas such as criminal justice issues, anger management, self-harm, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, trauma, addictions, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, maternal issues, family issues, and more. I have worked in crisis stabilization, corrections, and residential trauma treatment, allowing me to develop a very well-rounded and diverse clinical background.

Hello and welcome. My name is LoriLee Haener. I would imagine, if you’re exploring options for different treatment modalities while choosing a therapist that’s right for you, it’s for a very good reason. You may be feeling stuck, either caused by a sudden, significant “life-event” or grappling with anxiety, fear, & trauma that have seized your ability to make choices that are aligned with your health and well-being during anxious and tense moments. You may have suffered with addiction in the process of easing your daily pain. You are not alone, but how you address these issues is unique to you.

I enjoy helping couples, families and individuals in working on relationship issues and concerns in a wide variety of areas these may be facing or dealing with. Some of the issues I can help with include depression, anxiety, health and medical problems, grief, loss, transitions, adjustment, self-esteem, troubled/at-risk youth or children, marriage and couple relationship issues, step-families, relationship concerns, sexual issues, teen concerns, child development, sibling and extended family concerns, and more. I work with clients on their issues and help them attain their goals. I focus on strengths, successes, emotions, thoughts and feelings in helping them.

Life often feels messy and leaves people forgetting our own worth, brilliance, and capability. Clients may be so overwhelmed by everything going on in their lives by the time they come to therapy that emotions become challenging to cope with, let alone understand. I take a collaborative strengths-based approach by empowering clients to examine and challenge the stories that they have come to believe about themselves. I seek to provide a safe space for you to understand your own life story and the contextual factors that impact that story and to grow more into your own authentic Self.

No matter the reason a person seeks counseling, a listening ear and safe place to share can foster healing and allow progress toward wholeness. As your counselor, I hope to provide a space for you, free of judgement, where we address your concerns and help you work toward a fulfilled and free life. I work with a variety of different issues, including anxiety, depression, relationships, low self-esteem, grief, family systems, anger management and parenting concerns. I see women, men, adolescents, couples and families. My experience and education has given me knowledge on diverse approaches and orientations to use in counseling.

My passion is people, and my goal in therapy is helping individuals work through issues to improve overall quality of life. I help the client to identify their own strengths and ways that these might be useful in the healing process, as well as helping them to build new strengths to implement in the management of emotions, traumas, and/or mental illness. I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Common Elements Treatment Approach, and Motivational Interviewing.

I know life is complicated and you would not be seeking therapy if you were not in one of those complicated moments in life, whether it be about a relationship with your spouse, your child or simply with yourself. My goal is to help you find a way to navigate those muddy waters and to make life not quite so rocky. I personally have a passion for parents and kids. I have worked in the field of child welfare and adoption and have seen the impact trauma has on the young and the old. I recognize how early childhood trauma impacts an individual throughout their life and impacts all relationships.

I am a Licensed Marriage and family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I have worked with individuals, couples, children and families for over 20 years in private practice and other settings. I offer a variety of treatment options including play therapy, sand tray therapy, mindfulness practices and EMDR.

I also provide psychological assessments for children and adolescents. I particularly specialize in assessing for Autism, learning and intellectual disabilities, and general diagnostic clarification.

My approach to counseling is through the lens of trauma which allows me to be empathetic to the various life events that my clients have experienced and how those events shape their worldview and how they navigate it. I have experience working with clients ages 4-20+ who have experienced physical and sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, shame, guilt, and so much more. I have also facilitated teen support groups and parenting support groups for mothers with newborns.
