For some, this includes exploring your relationship with the divine, deepening your spiritual identity, or building spiritual practices. For others, it includes exploring spiritual beliefs or values and the degree to which these fit with your personhood. It can involve asking questions, sharing joy, fears, or struggles, getting ‘unstuck’, or creating change in an informed and intentional way.

I believe that empowerment and encouragement through the use of counseling strategies can help promote and build positive life skills to help improve interpersonal relationships, reduce stress, and anger. My passion for counseling is to help create positive change or adjustments for each individual that I counsel. Juan O. Turón is a native of Azul, Argentina and resides in the United States since 1998. Mr. Turón has a Bachelors of Arts degree in General Psychology, a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Certificate of Participation in anthropology courses from the University of Cambridge International Summer School from 2005. Mr. Turón is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and approved Marriage and Family Therapy Supervisor through the Virginia Board of Counseling. Mr. Turón is currently finishing his doctoral studies Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University.

Career Summary- 30 years of social work and counseling services to a wide and varied demographic of people groups for the betterment of my clientele, their families, and the community at large. Currently, my emphasis is on individual therapy with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as marriage and family therapy. I have also done much work with male issues and military clientele and their families, and blended family issues. Jordan has worked with a broad population, including intensive in-home counseling, couples therapy, family therapy, individual outpatient counseling, and inpatient behavioral health counseling. He mainly uses cognitive behavioral therapy with a person-centered perspective as his therapeutic approach for individuals; when working with families, Jordan focuses on establishing healthy boundaries, recognizing and changing patterns, Gottman-based approaches, and overall structure in the family unit. I am passionate about supporting clients experiencing life transitions and serious mental health challenges in understanding their inner experience, navigating their trauma, and celebrating and reinforcing their strengths with a collaborative approach. My family and I moved to Richmond in August 2017 and fell in love with the area. I grew up in Long Island, New York and obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Stony Brook University. My family and I spent 10 years living in sunny Florida where I worked in a community mental health agency. I received her LCSW during this time and had the privilege of working with a diverse population. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is experienced in working with adolescents, adults, and families. I believe that we all have struggles that can benefit from support from time to time.

I focus on individual Trauma, Couples, and Family. With years of family and individual work I've developed a flexible ability to meet adult and teen needs from parenting, marital, and developmental trauma and transitions of life. My work is informed by an attachment approach where I seek to create safety with you to untie negative relational patterns and move into greater awareness and courage. To assist my clients with underlying issues of trauma, my training in AEDP, EMDR and somatic approaches are well suited. I also use Ketamine Assisted Therapy in my office to break through old, unconscious patterns.
