I have been practicing counseling/psychotherapy for over 20 years and have been facilitating family, couple and individual therapy since 1998. I am experienced in inpatient, partial day treatment and outpatient treatment, working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Using a multi therapuetic approach I am non-judgemental and easy to talk to. I enjoy working with family systems issues as I feel anything impacting one of our family members impacts us all. As a native of Southeast Texas I am familiar with resources and am happy to refer individuals as needed.

Robert White is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. He has more than 30 years of combined experience working in the criminal justice, mental health and addictions field. He has worked in a variety of clinical and mental health settings (to include corrections facilities and residential drug programs for adolescents and adults.

The ideal client is one that is willing to work in session and practice out of session. I work best with clients that are willing to be honest and raw with me. I respect someone that can voice their truest thoughts/feelings/and behaviors because I will be equally direct with my identification of distortions in their thoughts and actions. The greatest acceptance of ourselves can only be achieved with an honest look inward. This honesty allows us see what strengths we desire to build and what needs we can reduce. With this direct, loving, and accepting approach, the counseling process can be maximized in its efficacy.

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in marriage, couples, and family as well as a certification in play therapy from Sam Houston State University. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Texas A&M University. I am Level 2 certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am supervised by Marion Marold Vickerman LMFT-S.

A lot of people do not like to talk about the past but it can be helpful in how you parent, how you chose your partners, and friends and/or how you heal your inner child.

Providing a safe space for clients to reflect on the past while working toward future goals is critical in the work I do. I take pride in building relationships by listening to each individual's story and empowering them to re-frame their narrative and work toward healing on their terms and timelines. I specialize in working with teens and adolescents, individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, and also those who have experienced trauma or are working through grief and loss.

Therapy goals are a joint process between the client and myself, the therapist. I assist with identifying presenting problems, while we collaborate on identifying goals to address the problems according to the client. Sometimes a client may just need some guidance on life decisions, or support getting through a tough time. Whatever the journey I'm here to help the client navigate through this process. Clients may need to see a new way of doing things in order to get to the next phase of life.
