I strive to provide a safe space for all clients to explore the issues bringing them to therapy and what underlies those issues. As a multicultural/relational therapist identities that are important to you provide a background for therapy (race, religion, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, political affiliations, gender identity, gender, sex, ableness, etc.) as those identities make up who you are. Relationships and how you relate with others are also important. I treat anxiety, depression, grief/loss, phases of life issues, family issues, women's issues and men's issues. I am also a sex and gender specialist.

Change happens inside of us all the time. It is a daily, intentional, purposeful act. When the pain of remaining the same is greater than the relief of being better, therapy helps. If you're having difficulty navigating relationships with your significant other, spouse, friends, children, or family members, I will help you achieve the change you want to see in yourself. Changes from within effect change around us.

Are you constantly contradicting yourself? A part of you wants to grow and transform into your “true” self, but then you feel as though you are self-sabotaging again. You question how you can work on yourself when you are the one preventing the growth. Pablo Neruda’s poem "We Are Many" describes the internal conflict that many of us feel. As a psychotherapist, I noticed that my clients needed something more than just traditional talk therapy. This realization led me to become a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist to help people “befriend” the internal conflict and embrace it with love and compassion.

I understand the religious 'glass ceiling' and the special difficulties of a family being in the ministry.
YOU are worth investing in! Every day gives us a new chance to begin again. We all are seeking balance and perspective in this very chaotic world. Mitigating personal, professional, academic, relational, and spiritual integrity is a difficult challenge. I’m confident that together we can overcome any challenge or heart-break you face. If you struggle with unresolved pain, broken relationships or spiritual exhaustion, hope and new life are just around the corner. If you're ready to address the issues and do the work...I am ready to process them with you!

I specialize in treating eating disorders/disordered eating, anxiety, depression, trauma, fertility and postpartum issues and relationship issues - including couples and family therapy.
There are many reasons why we enter therapy. Sometimes we are in need of healing from immense hurt. Sometimes, we are at a crossroad in our lives where we know we need to change direction. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I want you to know that I approach therapy humbly; knowing that while the hard work of change is up to you, I am fully committed to bringing respect, hopefulness and the best of my knowledge to our work together. I believe there is great power in self-awareness, authenticity and acceptance. They give us the courage to take the next step toward more fulfilling and happier lives.

I have a passion for helping families and young people. Parenting in all stages of life can be difficult, which is why I seek to provide support, understanding, and tools to help enhance your family relationships. I work directly with caregivers to manage behaviors of toddlerhood. I connect well with middle schoolers who find it difficult to connect with others. I also enjoy helping teenagers find hope and healing while overcoming depression and trauma. I’m like a teacher in that you should learn something from me, like a doctor in that you should overcome symptoms, and like a firefighter in that I help keep kids safe.

I am passionate about working with individuals, partners, and families that have been impacted by substance use and alcoholism. These experiences have a way of breaking us down causing disconnection and hopelessness. I believe psychoeducation, connection, and support can build a pathway to recovery that is sustainable and provides a foundation for a life worth living. Research shows us that the more support and connection an individual or family has, the more likely they are to overcome challenges. My goal is to help guide, support, and teach you skills that will help you or your loved one live without alcohol or other drugs.

When kids’ emotions are high, logic and language can be low, and when we can’t look to reason, we should look to connection. Through a lens of compassionate curiosity, I work to hold the space needed to explore heightened feelings/emotions. My passion is working with toddlers, children, adolescents, & young adult women seeking connection, balance, self-awareness, and healing when facing emotional/behavioral struggles, school-related issues, family/relationship challenges, life-transitions, and self-esteem. I believe every human, no matter how young, can find healing, but I'm here to walk alongside you or your child on your journey.

Navigating through life’s challenges can be hard, especially when you feel you are doing it alone. The journey toward healing and the ability to thrive starts with being heard. Being able to talk about them in an open, non-judgmental, compassionate, and safe environment, and having an empathetic ear listen to your story can help you begin your healing process. Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
