Someone who will meet you where you are and support your growth.I am this person. I understand that growth takes time. I believe we all can grow into healthier, happier versions of ourselves, while acknowledging the pain and experiences that raised us. We are complex and deserve to be supported by people who can understand our complexities.

I use traditional talk therapy, guided and creative processes, Internal Family Systems IFS, ecopsychology and coaching practices.
With over 30 years experience, I provide a warm, safe, supportive environment where clients move through challenging times, finding the motivation and solutions to live more vital, healthy, authentic lives. I offer Psychotherapy and Clinical Consulting services to adults, teens, couples and families. While interactive in sessions, I am an attentive witness, listening carefully then collaborating with people to see what needs tending, what inherent wisdom may have been overlooked or under-valued and what new ways of seeing can be most helpful.

Stressful experiences, challenging behaviors, and emotional distress can impact all ages, beginning with very young children. As a clinical psychologist, my focus is to provide compassionate care and strength based support to children, teens, and families as well as adults. I am experienced treating anxiety, mood and trauma related disorders, as well as relationship issues. My treatment approach starts with an assessment of each person’s needs. Having received post doctoral training as a child and family therapist, I work through an array of cognitive behavioral interventions, expressive and talk therapies and psycho-education with ages three and older.

My specialties include helping parents/family members, young adults, and adults struggling to build independence, manage intense emotions, build meaningful relationships, and work towards life goals.
I am licensed in MA and NY. I am straightforward, helping clients achieve behavioral change towards living in line with their values and priorities. I provide treatment that is founded on evidence based principles, meaning that I base treatment on knowledge gleaned from research and science while allowing for flexibility to accommodate to the individuals with whom I work. I am trained in a variety of treatment modalities and work from within an acceptance based cognitive behavior therapy framework. Balancing acceptance of our experiences and channeling our strengths towards behavior change is, I find, the most useful path forward.

Life happens and sometimes a lot can be happening all at once. From relationship struggles, family planning, career changes, navigating life transitions, death/loss, illness, post-partum, gender & sexuality, family stressors, trauma, living through a global pandemic and the aftermath. It’s makes sense to feel anxious, sad, unsure and overwhelmed by everything. From significant life changes or even day-to-day routines, especially after a 3-year pandemic. It's time to find some space for you. Take a pause, take some deep breaths in and exhale.

I have post-graduate training and certification in advanced clinical practice which includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Therapy.
The individuals that I treat most often have varying levels of need and are at different stages in their own therapeutic process. For this reason, I am very person-centered and tailor treatment to each individual's particular needs. I work with all ages but most often with children, adolescents, and young adults. The majority of individuals that I see struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, eating disorders, self-injury, school problems, and ADHD. However, I also have advanced training in working with individuals with chronic mental health issues and personality disorders.

I work to create a strong, trusting, empathic relationship with each individual, family and system to support progress and well-being.
For the past 15 years I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with ASD, depression, anxiety and trauma. These individuals are often impacted by emotional dysregulation, which limits their potential and reduces their ability to participate and succeed in specific environments. My clients often internalize their perceived deficits and have identified themselves as being “less than” or “not good enough”. My work focuses on supporting abilities, recognizing strengths, honoring differences and valuing uniqueness while providing opportunities to observe their patterns of behavior that inhibit them from taking action.

Young adulthood can be exhausting, between societal and peer pressures, balancing school, work, and social life, and managing family expectations. The last few years have brought even more challenges. All of these challenges teens and young adults face can impact their self-esteem, anxiety, mood, and daily lives. I strive to help my clients to better cope with and recognize emotions; identify connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and improve relationships in order to live a more peaceful, enjoyable, and meaningful life.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
