As a licensed clinical social worker, I work in collaboration with my clients to maximize individual and family functioning. I create a safe, caring and non-judgmental environment for immigrant families facing intergenerational problems, marital discord, emotional and psychological problems, arising from adaptation to a foreign culture. I have considerable experience in community mental health and child welfare, helping people with complex multiple issues.

I earned a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from National Louis University. I have experience working with clients aging from adolescence through older adults. I believe strongly in the power of the theraputic relationship and the innate strength and ability that people already possess to come to a place of healing and emotional wellness. My theory of choice is Adlerian theory which is a holistic approach to psychology that emphasizes the importance of overcoming feels of inferiority and gaining a sense of belonging in order to achieve success and happiness. One thing that I really enjoy about Adlerian theory is that it is integrative and can be adapted for specific needs of the individual. It emphasizes techniques that promote growth and resilience and some of the techniques used in this type of therapy include: Providing encouragement, creating expectations, examining the purposes for behavior, examining memories, and an establishment of goals.

Caty works with clients of all ages providing individual, family and couple’s therapy. She has experience working with individuals facing depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief/loss, trauma, divorce and borderline personality. Caty aims to provide a safe and empathetic environment where clients can work through their life problems while providing them with the tools they need.
