I specialize in mood disorders, relationship and family of origin concerns, and emotional, physical and sexual trauma.
Therapy is an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth that requires a compassionate and safe therapeutic relationship. I practice from an insight- oriented approach that allows for an increased awareness of past and current relational patterns. Together we will examine these patterns, develop tools, and find ways to respond differently in order to alleviate immediate stress while also creating lasting change.

My ideal client comes from many walks of life. They are children, teenagers, and adults and present with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, relationship and family problems, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), school problems, and oppositional-defiant disorder. They all share a common need to be heard, empowered, and guided on the path of recovery. I provide evidence-based treatments tailored to the needs of my clients. I focus on strengths and capabilities rather than "illness."

I draw from principles of Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, ACT, DBT, Somatic Experiencing, Health at Every Size, and practice from a trauma-informed perspective.
As someone who identifies as an empath, I know how hard it can be to balance caring for others while prioritizing self-care. The art of balance is ever evolving, and you are the expert on yourself. You can expect a space for deep reflection to understand yourself, your behaviors, and your relationships better. If you feel like anxiety, pressure, or shame are getting in the way of feeling confident and at peace in your body, then please reach out. There is a reason you are struggling now, and together we will explore and give voice to your whole self as a way for you to recognize your inherent worth.

I draw upon a range of modalities like mindfulness, family systems, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to support individuals and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I believe deeply in the potential for healing when people feel safe to be vulnerable in trusting relationships. I hope to collaborate with others to transform painful experiences into generative opportunities for growth so that we can create the lives we want to live. A queer South Asian American woman, I am attuned to the complexity of navigating differences in culture, race, gender, sexuality, religion, class, politics, and more in families and relationships. I utilize an intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive framework in my work with individuals and couples who are navigating conflict and seeking better self-understanding.

I am also fundamentally a Queer therapist, and I believe that any problem can be understood by analyzing power dynamics and differentials, whether in an individual person, a family, a community, or a society.
As we grow and develop as humans, we often find ourselves confronted by issues from the past – issues we may have thought long-resolved. These issues can manifest in our relationship dynamics, our perceptions about ourselves, and our means of coping with our environment. My role is to join you in confronting these things so that you can integrate and learn the lessons these past experiences are meant to teach you. In our work together, you are the expert. You decide what your experiences mean and how they impact the person you are.

My clinical expertise focuses on trauma, attachment, relationship dynamics, depression, anxiety, and family systems.
Whether this is your first time in therapy, or you’re looking for someone new, my goal is to help you through life’s challenges. I work with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families to help them overcome the barriers that keep them stuck in unhelpful cycles. I understand the ways in which guilt and shame can keep us paralyzed and have the necessary tools and clinical skill set to help guide you through life difficulties. I firmly believe that people have the answers within themselves, but it often takes the therapeutic alliance to help work through problems and guide the person to resolutions and self-realization.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
