I am licensed in NY, NJ, FL, NV and OR. I work with individual adults, who struggle with the fallout of traumatic experiences. I helps clients develop a present sense of safety and process through difficult memories from their trauma. My focus is on making real progress; work with me is gentle yet deep. Gentle; through my nonjudgmental and complete acceptance of the authentic human experience. Deep; where I get straight to the core of what brings clients to therapy. My practice is trauma-focused, rooted in a deep understanding of the effects of trauma and specializing in addressing and fighting the internalized shame of clients.
I also teach therapists how to treat trauma. In both a faculty position and as a clinical supervisor, I offer training and practice of understanding and treating trauma. I bring a sense of agency and empowerment to therapists and to clients, with a stance of "What happened to you", not "What's wrong with you", and we work at an individually tailored pace.
I create a warm, compassionate, and patient atmosphere where clients feel safe talking about their feelings. I help them identify instances of fight, flight, or freeze, even if the trauma was in the past. I brings in attachment styles to help clients understand interpersonal conflicts. I help clients be mindful about their physical and emotional feelings.
