I'm deeply passionate about my work in the field of social work, and I've had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and older adults. First and foremost, I commend you for taking the most difficult step in therapy- seeing its value and starting the process. The process can be uncomfortable, and I am here to help you make the process as easy as possible. Right from the beginning, it is going to be important to establish a good relationship in which you feel comfortable opening up and allowing me to get to know you. I do this mainly by asking questions, listening, and putting much care into understanding who you are and what you are saying.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families in both community mental health centers and school settings. I take on a holistic and relational treatment approach in my practice, utilizing evidenced-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strength Based, Family Systems, and Mindfulness Techniques. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, family/social conflict, life transitions, and cultural issues. I am also bilingual and provide therapy in English or Spanish.

My goal with all my clients is to create a safe, judgment-free space for self-exploration and healing. I’ve been a practicing Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2015, after receiving my Master’s in Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Shayna Duval graduated with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Expressive and Creative Arts from Salve Regina University. Shayna has extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, and their families struggling with anxiety, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, trauma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and academic challenges. Her commonly utilized therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, Mindfulness, and Person-centered Therapy.
