I specialize in working with clients who have experienced narcissistic abuse. As an adult child of a narcissist myself, I know all too well how difficult it is to get help and to heal. Narcissism isn't necessarily overt abuse, especially for children, and it is often hard to figure out why you feel depressed, anxious, struggle with perfectionism, or keep finding yourself in codependent relationships as adults. Narcissistic abuse is trauma and it can keep you in survival mode for a very long time. As trauma therapist, I would love to help you learn to thrive, to find joy, to be free, and really live your own life. We do heal!

On our journey of life, sometimes we reach a point where it seems as if, we have hit the end of the road. Thoughts like, "I feel stuck", “Life is so meaningless” or “Will my relationships ever improve?”, can leave us feeling overwhelmed and drained. A deep sense of sadness, anger and frustration can get in way of our everyday functioning.  Therapy can assist you through such difficult times, as well as help you overcome every day obstacles. Together we can work towards building healthy relationships and positive well-being. Through our collaboration you will learn to access and engage your inner strengths to combat these struggles.

Hello! I am a person-centered therapist who is committed to helping people feel empowered about their relationships, their choices, and the deep inner relationships they have with themselves. My work focuses on targeting old and tired beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve you in your present environment, and reframing your vision of who you want to be now. I believe in taking a collaborative, warm approach to working together in reaching client goals. I'm very passionate about learning about the uniqueness of others, what has lead them to where they are, and turning pains and downfalls into skills that will help clients to grow

As a warm, heart-centered, holistic therapist, I am deeply interested in accompanying my clients in their journey to health, happiness, and wholeness. In facilitating a safe healing space for adults, we gently explore what emerges in the present moment, letting the session organically unfold. I am welcoming clients who want to step into an authentic, more peaceful, more empowered and expansive place within themselves. I work with those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship turmoil, spiritual or existential issues, grief, life transitions, women's issues, co-dependency, abuse, trauma, or those simply wanting to find deeper contentment in their lives.

My approach combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, expressive arts therapy, and positive psychology.
Life happens in unexpected ways. Whether adjusting to a sudden life change or a known life transition, you may be feeling emotionally overwhelmed and exhausted. The time period of transitioning to adulthood is stressful enough and dealing with anxiety, hopeless feelings, or just uncertainty on how to move forward can make it unbearable. Many adults have found help by reaching out and working with a therapist. There is an opportunity to learn and grow from your experience. Maya Angelou says, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

I use combinations of psychoeducation, boundary work, communication skills, talk therapy, expressive arts, setting behavioral goals, restructuring negative thought processes, & family of origin work (to help identify the impact of early family dynamics on current functioning).
Life can be tough, confusing, overwhelming, complex, & mystifying. Maybe you feel worry, fear, sad and/or lonely. We do the best we can with what we know at the time, and when become wiser, we "do wiser." Relationships & situations sometimes exceed our abilities to cope effectively. We are each a singular part of various systems (couple-hood, family, work, faith, community, school), and navigating those systems in healthy ways can feel confusing & difficult. The ability to reach out for help is an act of risk-taking. Therapy can help you develop perspective, insight, self-understanding, & coping skills to manage your life better.

Adolescence and young adulthood brings unique challenges and excitement that often requires extra support from sources outside of friends and family. Navigating changes and life transitions can feel overwhelming, anxiety producing, and generally stressful. Finding the right therapist is one of the most important factors in your success towards feeling better. I work with children, teens, young adults, and highly sensitive individuals seeking support with anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, managing boundaries, and executive functioning.

With my youngest clients, I often combine EMDR with play or family therapy and expressive arts.
Welcome! My clients are often looking for relationally-based therapy that recognizes their strengths and takes a collaborative approach to working together. My youngest clients are often recovering from traumatic losses and in need of support as they learn new ways of regulating their emotions and dealing with anxiety in relationships at home and in school. Adult clients are often looking for help with various forms of trauma, anxiety, grief, chronic stress/burnout, depression, and ambiguous loss. I use foundational approaches of interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to tailor therapy to each client's unique needs.

Interventions such as EMDR, Hypnosis, DBT, IFS, EFT, and expressive arts.
Our mission is simple…to help our clients move from pain and suffering to hope, resilience and freedom. Pain is an inevitable part of the human existence. Throughout our life, we naturally experience loss, rejection, defeat, physical and emotional pain. For many, pain and trauma experiences in life can be overwhelming. While we can’t go through life without experiencing pain, we do have a choice about how we’ll respond to it. As Holocaust survivor, Victor Frankl stated, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Expressive Arts Therapists

What happens in expressive arts therapy?

In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.

How long does expressive arts therapy take?

An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.

How does expressive arts therapy help children?

Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.

What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?

Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
