I use a combination of traditional talk therapy coupled with creative and expressive arts interventions.
I help preteen, adolescent, and adult women to overcome trauma and adjustments and create a life they love. When you are on a rollercoaster of spiraling thoughts and painful emotions, you feel broken and voiceless. You may be experiencing guilt, shame, anxiety, or depression, but you don’t have to stay there. I have great compassion for the difficulties you are experiencing, and I look forward to working with you to find your inner spark and assist you in living a happy, fulfilling life.

Using play therapy, sandtray therapy and expressive arts therapy I am able to make a connection with your child and provide an atmosphere where healing and growth can occur.
Are you a parent, grandparent or guardian raising a child who is experiencing difficulties in life? Do you feel at a loss to help your child right now? Do you want to find a way to help your child with the pain and suffering he or she is going through? Has your child experienced a loss recently? A big transition in life (going to a new school, moving, a divorce in the family, addition of a sibling, loss of a loved one, medical issues in the family, etc.)? Is your child experiencing behavior problems in school or at home? Is he or she acting differently all of a sudden? Is your teen confused and searching for his or her true identity?

I implement expressive arts-based activities, including painting, drawing, clay, and sandtray.
Believing that people are influenced and nurtured during early primary relationships, I consider it an honor to partner with parents and significant caregivers, creating a holistic team that benefits clients. Taking a strengths-based approach, I value the unique and creative contributions of all, including those who identify as neurodivergent. I believe that every child is worthy of being seen, being heard and that everyone's story matters.

Therefore, I am expanding my work in Trauma Informed Therapy, EMDR Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy where I use the Arts to help those who are suffering from Anxiety, PTSD, and Depression related to trauma.
I provide holistic and integrative mental health. I believe that therapy offers a unique opportunity for intensive emotional and intellectual growth so that one can be better equipped to lead a more productive and fulfilling life. An individual can begin to consider one's life from a different point of view by attaching new meaning to his/her past, explore new avenues for reaching life goals, decrease painful feelings and increase their ability to cope with life's stressors. I believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship and its influence in creating positive change.

I incorporate expressive arts, body-based/somatic modalities, mindfulness, and attachment in my practice.
Being a human is hard sometimes! We all experience pain, stress, and trauma. Through safety, connection, and new experiences, our hearts can mend and we can create beautiful new things. We all need each other. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe space for you to feel seen, safe, and secure to share your authentic self. My desire is to meet you right where you are in your pain while helping you feel free to be fully you.

As a therapist who uses play therapy, I use expressive arts and play techniques to help children who have not developed the verbal skills needed to communicate their emotions effectively.
I am licensed in OK and AR and offer virtual and in-person appointments. I believe taking on life's day-to-day stressors can sometimes feel overwhelming and uncontrollable. Which leads us to feel anxious, sad, and frustrated which further impacts our ability to balance each facet of our lives. It is during these strenuous times that counseling may benefit you in creating clarity and encouragement through the chaos. As a counselor, it is my privilege to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment to process these concerns.

I believe that everyone has the ability to heal from trauma, and experience the beauty of personal growth from difficult life experiences. When we experience trauma and/or chronic stress, we often become disconnected from ourselves, from others, and from the world around us. Our work together can help you reconnect to yourself, improve interpersonal relationships and learn to be present in the moment. My goal is to help you become more resilient, so that you feel comfortable enough to process your past, and confident enough to navigate difficult life events.

Expressive Arts Therapists

What happens in expressive arts therapy?

In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.

How long does expressive arts therapy take?

An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.

How does expressive arts therapy help children?

Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.

What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?

Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
