I previously worked in a partial hospitalization setting treating adults with OCD and anxiety with extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP).
We all deserve to be the happiest and healthiest version of ourselves. Taking the first step to reach out for support and entrust someone to walk beside you in this journey can feel incredibly vulnerable. My aspiration is to create an open environment from one human to another where you feel seen and safe to show up authentically. You are the true expert on your life and I want you to leave each session feeling empowered. Together we can create space for self-exploration, build a foundation of skills to help anchor through difficult times, and include humor (when appropriate) along the way.

I use evidence-based practices (CBT, ACT, ERP, to name a few) to support your growth and help you build resilience by creating a treatment plan based on your unique needs.
Are you often stuck in your own head, overwhelmed, or experiencing thoughts on a loop? Have others pointed out your "perfectionist" or "people-pleasing" tendencies before? Does it feel like you are slowly distancing yourself from the world? If you resonate with any of these experiences, you're not alone. Many of my clients come to me feeling exactly like this. Together, we can explore these challenges, understand their roots, and work towards a brighter, more fulfilling future that is grounded in your values. You deserve a life that's not defined by intrusive thoughts, worries, or self-doubt, and I'm here to help you reclaim it.

If you are tired of trying to think your way through problems which are in large part caused by overthinking, ERP might be right for you.
I specialize in the treatment of OCD, hoarding disorder, and all other anxiety-related disorders: social anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, PTSD, generalized anxiety, tics, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., nail-biting). As part of my practice, the primary treatment for these conditions is exposure and response prevention therapy, or ERP. What maybe differentiates my practice from others whose principal therapeutic modality is ERP is that I am able to accept a wide variety of insurances. Additionally, I am one of very few clinicians in the state of Minnesota who specializes in the treatment of hoarding disorder.

I use a combination of behavioral and existential therapies (ACT, CBT, ERP, Gestalt, etc.
I see clients remotely and have evening openings until 8pm! I treat everything from stress, life changes, and the search for meaning and happiness to addiction (alcohol and other use disorders), anxiety disorders, specific phobias, and depressive disorders. The change factor in therapy varies. Sometimes we are too stuck in our own thinking or are lost in our emotions. Sometimes we flee from pain, and sometimes we need to create new meaning. Change occurs when we risk navigating our inner and outer worlds differently, and repeat this process until it becomes second-nature. This isn't easy, and takes time, but is very doable.

I've also been trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the most effective therapy for treating OCD.
When was the last time you had a good laugh? Or felt like your brain was calm? Or felt really confident that you were running your own life; not your anxiety, or obsessive thoughts, or big emotions. If it feels like it's been a while since you could actually enjoy life, then maybe it's a good thing you're here. Therapy can seem like a really serious thing to jump into. It is! It doesn't need to feel that way though. It's possible to do hard things, face the fears and anxieties that keep you stuck, and grow into the person you want to be. You can do all of that, and it can even be fun. Enjoyable. Something you look forward to.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
