I am trained in EFT and EMDR, as well as ERP, ACT, and CBT.
On the outside, you’re the person everyone comes to when they need help - and you shine when you're supporting others. But on the inside you're feeling stuck in your head. You can't stop worrying about what might happen next and thinking about how to prepare for all possible worst-case scenarios. All the thinking makes it hard to fall asleep at night and difficult to enjoy the present moment. Maybe you know that you want to be present, calm, and confident, but you're struggling to get there on your own. You don't have to walk through this alone, and I'd love to talk to you about how you can begin to feel like yourself again.

I utilize a range of interventions from such evidence-based practices as CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction.
I believe the space held between therapist and client is sacred. It is a privilege and honor to be invited to take part in the journey of another person’s life - to witness their challenges and joys. I believe that you are more than your trauma or diagnosis. My goal is to be a therapeutic partner in helping you foster your strength and resilience. Together we will explore what you need to manage uncomfortable feelings, identify behaviors you want to change and integrate healthy ways of coping into the rhythm of your life. I believe in you.

Besides going through my own personal experience with OCD and exposure therapy, I also have completed specialized trainings in the treatment of OCD and exposure therapy (ERP).
I specialize in helping individuals who are experiencing symptoms of OCD, including Pure-O versions of OCD. “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder can be characterized by primarily obsessions, primarily compulsions, or a combination of both. Obsessions are defined as recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced as intrusive and cause anxiety or distress. Compulsions are defined as repetitive behaviors or mental acts that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession or according to rules that must be applied rigidly.” DSM-5

I have broad skill sets including ERP, Cognitive Behavioral , Dialectical behavioral psychodynamic, and substance abuse treatment.
I've been in practice for over 10 years and have seen patients from three-ninety years old. Many transitions occur throughout the lifespan and during these transitions; some can be more difficult than expected and need examining for better understanding and practices. To do this I facilitate an environment free of judgement and help my patients understand their feelings and thoughts, as well as how to improve their behaviors to better their lives and futures. I enjoy my work and very much and strive to help people find their own voice, achieve their greatest accomplishments and successes in life, love, and work.

My work is primarily cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) based but I also use supportive, person-centered, strengths-based approaches in my practice.
I believe in the power of therapy and that you are the director of your own journey. Let’s face it - life is hard and having a safe, supportive, compassionate space to tell your story can help as you navigate its terrain. I pride myself on working collaboratively with clients to bring about the change they desire whether it relates to anxieties, transitions, loss, mood impairment, self-acceptance, life stressors or any other area of growth and development. Together we can learn to better cope and roll with life’s punches.

I have training in ERP, which is the gold standard for OCD treatment.
Intrusive thoughts can be scary and overwhelming. Compulsions can seem inescapable. Anxiety can come with no obvious reasons and can make our days difficult and exhausting. Anxiety, fear, sadness, and shame can affect our day-to-day lives. Sometimes we can feel that these emotions are consuming our thoughts and actions. Therapy can help people understand and manage these emotions.

I have completed intensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
My work consists of providing a welcoming, profoundly non-judgmental atmosphere where one can experience the safety that human relationships may offer. I truly believe people first need the basics. We connect and flourish in therapy when provided with acceptance, respect and dignity in a non-shaming relationship. I take a holistic approach and incorporate foundational needs that are often overlooked. Sometimes the simplest solution may be most effective, while other situations may call for a deeper dive that will uncover a path to healing. Regardless, I leave the direction and pacing up to my clients to preserve autonomy.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
