I am a licensed clinical professional counselor who specializes in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression. While I tailor my specific approach to each individual client, I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP). For the treatment of depression, I also use behavioral activation to help clients decrease avoidance in their lives and begin to engage in activities that will help improve their mood.

I root my practices in evidenced-based techniques such as DBT, CBT, ACT and ERP.
Everyone deserves to feel heard and seen. Change is scary. Uncertainty is scary. Each of these though are important for personal development and growth. I have always felt therapy is displaying patience, compassion, empathy and empowerment. I strive to bring these qualities to each session as well as incorporating light-hearted humor, which can go a long way! Rapport building within a client-clinician relationship is important to create a safe and respectful space for self-exploration. It's important to me to collaborate with each person to best support their own goals and wants for therapy, meeting the person wherever they are at.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapies, including DBT, ACT, CBT, and ERP and have experience working at in-patient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care.
Many of my clients express a deep longing to be known, but a simultaneous fear of being seen for who they are. Maybe you wonder how you got here: monitoring every bite of food that goes into your mouth or constantly checking your body in the mirror. You may have a lot of external markers of success and most people would have no idea how lonely and overwhelmed you feel inside and how hard it feels to get through the day. Making peace with yourself and your body is a radical act in the context of a culture obsessed with weight, body size and dieting. I help people come home to themselves.

I am neurodivergent-affirming and often utilize evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and also incorporate a relational psychodynamic style to identify and address current ways of relating to others and the world that often stem from our past.
My clinical areas of specialty include anxiety/OCD, neurodivergence (e.g ADHD, Autism, OCD) and those exploring it, relationship challenges, and career concerns/burnout. Some folks I work with also might describe themselves as sensitive, deep thinkers/feelers. As a neurodivergent woman myself, I feel passionate about working with clients who face challenges related to these areas. Overall, I often support clients in growing self-compassion, increasing self-awareness, living more aligned with their values, and in creating a life that feels sustainable and meaningful.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
