I specialize in Rumination-Focused ERP for OCD and anxiety disorders. This approach focuses on treating compulsive rumination, and provides a highly systematic yet gentler approach to exposure therapy. RF-ERP can be helpful to patients who have not made significant progress in other types of treatment, including individuals with Pure O or Sensorimotor OCD.

I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) in working with OCD and related disorders.
Do you find yourself struggling with intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors? Are you noticing skin picking, hair pulling, or nail biting? Do you feel the need to acquire new items and/or hold onto existing items? You may be suffering from OCD, Anxiety, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), and/or Hoarding Disorder. These disorders can feel isolating and overwhelming, but there are evidenced-based treatments that can help!

I am trained in EMDR, ERP, and ACT which I use to guide treatment planning.
Does life feel hard right now? Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, or wondering why you seem to worry about every little thing. If this sounds familiar, I can help you. I specialize in treating anxiety, OCD, and trauma. Often these daily struggles are connected to deeper fears and wounds that we can learn to heal. I want to help live a full life without pretending to be ok, but truly feeling ok.

In addition to talk therapy, I offer specialized OCD and trauma treatments including ERP, I-CBT, and EMDR.
Do you feel tortured by intrusive thoughts? Is your life ruled by a never-ending series of 'what-if's', each more horrifying than the last? You've been hiding your struggle behind a veil of people-pleasing, perfectionism, and other self-sacrificing behaviors, but it's getting exhausting. You're tired of the rituals, the constant reassurance seeking, and the disconnect you feel from your body and the humans around you. Trying to talk yourself out of a thought spiral only seems to make things worse and you're not sure how to move forward. It doesn't have to be like this! Calm is closer than you think.

I have extensive training in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C).
As a psychologist with over nine years of experience working with youth and families, it is my goal to help children, teens, and parents through challenging times in their lives and to help them navigate the mental health system. Children and teenagers who have anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral outbursts often feel alone in their struggles and this can be very overwhelming for parents and families. I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults with anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, emotion dysregulation, relationship difficulties, and trauma. I also provide parent guidance therapy and coaching.

I offer both evidence based treatments for OCD: I-CBT (Inference Based Therapy) and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention).
Have you noticed that it's in the places you are supposed to be most relaxed (meditation, vacation, weekends, sleep) that your mind feels louder than ever? It might feel like the idea of letting your thoughts go is meant for “normal” people and that does not include you. Maybe you stand guard to keep yourself from your worst case, as if your attention to your thoughts keeps you from descending into unimaginable fear. All the advice you get from those closest to you feels so out of touch with the agony of daily doubts around the things that matter most. I can help you sift through the noise and regain your confidence in yourself.

Instead, I will teach you to be your own hero by using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to manage your mind.
You are tired of intrusive thoughts! You can't stop wondering “what if” about every little thing. You desperately want to stop checking things again and again, because you never find the answer anyway. Deep in your heart you struggle to figure out: "Is this really me...or is it OCD?" You are terrified of talking about all this. You don't want to be labeled a "bad person" ...or even falsely reported to authorities. You just want someone to rescue you from your own brain so you can go back to living life.

I also have extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged exposure (PE), as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques.
I try to create a light-hearted and non-judgemental environment that allows individuals to build confidence and autonomy while gaining back control over mental health struggles. It's important to me that people feel supported as they navigate a journey of personal growth. Oftentimes, people are nervous to share thoughts or worries they have had for years without talking to someone about it. I challenge people to take the risk to open up and work to solve difficulties that have come up, to make enjoying life just a little bit easier.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
