My typical client sees me for Telehealth, self-pay sessions during their workday to seek better ways to grow, communicate & improve their relationships. Many of my clients are normal or higher functioning adults leading successful lives simply wanting to thrive in life! I also see clients struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD and mood disorders. Telehealth couple's counseling is a unique niche as well. I've completed Level 3 Practicum Training In Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Couples may be in different locations as long as they are calling in from a state I'm licensed to work. I've worked with a variety of couples since '08.

Our goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. We all experience moments that leave us feeling hopeless, sad, frustrated, angry, or frightened. However, life is not meant to be lived in that place of darkness. While we can't change the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. Using complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will help unearth old behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're ready to take steps forward, we are ready to help.

Asking for help can be difficult, but it's something we all need to do at some point in our lives. It can take a great deal of courage to make that first call, but I'm here to help. I'm not here to judge, and I will never lead you on. I am offering a new perspective on your challenges and I am willing to just listen if that's what you need. You are the expert on YOU- I'm just here to help mobilize those strengths that you already possess and have used in the past to overcome life's difficulties. So whatever it is that you are facing, let's face it together and complete the mission. I've got your back.

Ask about video sessions. With the current evolving nature of COVID-19, we are now offering telemental health (TMH) sessions for all clients. It is an effective means of meeting your mental health needs when a trip to the office is not possible. ALSO OFFERING TELE-PLAY THERAPY- The premise of play therapy is to meet children where they are and to speak their language. Technology is the modern facilitator of that language. What thoughts race through your mind as you go through the day? What thoughts have become obstacles? Do those thoughts hold you captive in states of anxiety and depression? Do they make you feel unsafe, insecure, and isolated, even when we are surrounded by others? Do these thoughts make relationships complicated and responsibilities seem impossible? Are your mental and emotional stressors effecting your physical well-being in ways like physical pain, fatigue, sensory intolerance, brain fog, and inability to focus? Exploring your thoughts and feelings can be difficult, but you do not have to walk through this process alone.

My passion is to help people overcome feeling "stuck" in unhealthy patterns by facilitating real, healthy changes through self-discovery and practical applications. I am a good "first" therapist for people who are a little afraid of therapy. I have extensive experience working with first responders, military personnel and veterans. It is not just about talking, it is about assessing how life has affected us and developing tools to live a valued life going forward.

Experiential Therapy

How does experiential therapy work?

Experiential therapy works by allowing an individual to use their creativity to re-imagine themselves and their lives in an effort to process their emotions. Experiential therapy may take many forms, including engaging clients through art, re-enactments, role-playing, music, or forms of physical recreation. By focusing on these activities, experiential therapists help individuals identify the emotions they associate with previous experiences and work together to cope with negative reactions, like fear, anger, or shame.

Is experiential therapy evidence-based?

Experiential therapy incorporates many therapy modalities, some of which have been more closely researched than others. Music therapy, for example, has been shown to help with sleep problems. Some studies find that art therapy can be beneficial for those with eating disorders or personality disorders, while other research suggests that such approaches have little impact.

How long does experiential therapy last?

The duration of experiential therapy will depend on the type of therapy used as well as the severity of the challenges an individual faces. Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Art therapy may comprise 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or on an as-needed basis. For each therapy type, clients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

Does experiential therapy help with trauma?

Trauma is one area where experiential therapy may be useful. Traumatic experiences such as combat or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating visual art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. Listening to music can be relaxing, while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, or who have been physically or emotionally abused.
