Listen. Learn. Liberate. I believe in having vulnerable, courageous conversations; I care deeply about social justice, spirituality, and whole-health healing. I help my clients to learn more about the origin of certain limiting beliefs about themselves and the world, and how these beliefs inform their current actions and relationships. I am most passionate about relationships (including our relationship with ourselves). También hablo español! I am not providing in-person sessions at this time.

We encounter and are a part of so many relationships: self, friendship, familial, interpersonal, etc. They create the different roles we have in our lives. When any of these relationships are in turmoil, distress, conflict, or other stressful states, it causes our lives to be thrown off sync. We begin to struggle with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem, grief, and we lack overall support. If your goal is to find balance, re-create positive and healthy dynamics, and to feel and provide support in and from your relationships, you have found the right place! Let's process through what's happening together.

I often utilize mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and experiential therapy in my approach.
I provide a grounding environment for clients who have been in survival mode and are looking to find their authentic self. Many of my clients have learned to cope with challenging relationships, trauma, or stressors by trying to control the uncontrollable or by shutting themselves off from the world around them. I help individuals and couples build awareness and develop skills to help them experience their lives and relationships more fully so that they can feel more connected with themselves and others.

I practice from a client-centered approach, and I utilize Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Experiential Therapy techniques, with a trauma-informed lens.
Hi there! With over four years of experience working with individuals and families in a variety of settings including hospital and community mental health, I believe every person brings a unique point of view to the counseling room, that each person is inherently valuable and has the capacity for growth, joy, and true fulfillment. I believe God is writing a story for every individual, redeeming the broken and hurts in our pasts. My first priority is cultivating a safe, warm, and open space for clients to discover themselves, grow, and tackle any barriers that they’ve encountered on their journey.

I provide EMDR, CBT, IFS and experiential therapy.
Do you struggle with making real changes in your relationships? Are you easily triggered into emotional distress due to past events? Have you repeatedly “tried harder” to change yourself? Do you wish that you could stop being so hard on yourself and others? Do you struggle with addiction or a loved one's addiction? Do you have symptoms of PTSD? After trying so hard to make changes, we may begin to doubt if change is possible. Reaching out for help can be hard and takes tremendous courage. But making lasting changes is not easy, and few people can do it alone.

An ideal client would be an individual seeking a better life and might be unable to connect the dots. This may include recovery from alcohol or drug use with a desire for long term recovery or attributes from growing up in an alcoholic environment. They may be married to an alcoholic. Their relationships have probably suffered and need repairing; they may not know where to start. Life seems overwhelming and even difficult. All that is needed is a desire and some willingness.

Welcome! My clients are often looking for relationally-based therapy that recognizes their strengths and takes a collaborative approach to working together. My youngest clients are often recovering from traumatic losses and in need of support as they learn new ways of regulating their emotions and dealing with anxiety in relationships at home and in school. Adult clients are often looking for help with various forms of trauma, anxiety, grief, chronic stress/burnout, depression, and ambiguous loss. I use foundational approaches of interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to tailor therapy to each client's unique needs.

Experiential Therapy

How does experiential therapy work?

Experiential therapy works by allowing an individual to use their creativity to re-imagine themselves and their lives in an effort to process their emotions. Experiential therapy may take many forms, including engaging clients through art, re-enactments, role-playing, music, or forms of physical recreation. By focusing on these activities, experiential therapists help individuals identify the emotions they associate with previous experiences and work together to cope with negative reactions, like fear, anger, or shame.

Is experiential therapy evidence-based?

Experiential therapy incorporates many therapy modalities, some of which have been more closely researched than others. Music therapy, for example, has been shown to help with sleep problems. Some studies find that art therapy can be beneficial for those with eating disorders or personality disorders, while other research suggests that such approaches have little impact.

How long does experiential therapy last?

The duration of experiential therapy will depend on the type of therapy used as well as the severity of the challenges an individual faces. Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Art therapy may comprise 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or on an as-needed basis. For each therapy type, clients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

Does experiential therapy help with trauma?

Trauma is one area where experiential therapy may be useful. Traumatic experiences such as combat or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating visual art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. Listening to music can be relaxing, while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, or who have been physically or emotionally abused.
