Many of us encounter situations that impact our mental health and search for someone to collaborate with to improve our mental health. I offer such collaboration to help you find your own solutions and develop your own ability to make positive changes in your life. I also provide a supportive, outside perspective, and will introduce you to evidence-based practices from both Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help you become comfortable with emotions and examine automatic thoughts and core beliefs. I may also use Existential Therapy to help you find meaning and purpose and to develop value-driven goals.

If you are like many of us, you may not feel sure of who you are or what you want in life. You may be in an unhealthy relationship, struggling with parenting, weathering the stress of college, or feeling hopeless in depression or addiction. As women, and even more so as mothers, it can feel impossible to measure up. Together, we’ll uncover who you truly are under social and familial expectations, heal past wounds, and create a lifestyle that keeps you squarely in your worth.

If you're trying to balance stressors and move past pain only to find yourself feeling stuck, I'm here to offer support as you find your way toward feeling your best. Even in the most difficult or overwhelming circumstances, we can find meaningful ways to move forward. The pressure from stress, anxiety, and trauma can show up in a person's mind, relationships, body, or other important areas of life. But oftentimes, these experiences reveal what in our lives might need attention.

“A step may be the beginning of a great journey” In life the first step is always the most difficult for people, the same can be said about therapy. Introducing oneself to someone they just met, trusting a stranger with their thoughts and feelings can be a truly intimidating experience. The purpose of therapy is to provide a safe space for a person to take the first step on the journey of healing and the personal growth that follows. Therapy is fluidic and follows an integrative, and adaptable path determined by the client’s goals.

I want to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where people can discuss their lives freely without fear of judgement. While the specific goals of therapy are always decided by the client, my overarching goals with each person is that they will come to understand their worth as an individual, and will find freedom to fully engage with life. I believe in not only addressing issues that hold people back, but also in exploring their unique strengths and interests.

I work with clients struggling with a variety of issues, including Anxiety/Panic, ADHD, Depression, Grief, Life Transitions, Chronic Pain, Mood Disturbance, Self-Care, and many more. However, I am currently only accepting adults with ADHD or suspected ADHD as new clients. Therapy tends to work best when a client provides as much information as possible, is open and honest, and puts in the effort and work necessary to improve upon their life.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
