I often practice from an Existential framework in the understanding that there are certain givens of existence that all struggle with.
Hi there! I am so glad you’re here. As a counselor, I am passionate about serving my community. I hold my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I pull from a variety of experiences in working in the mental health care industry including working with adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities, adolescents in school settings, adult and adolescent inpatient treatment, mental health and the outdoors, corrections counseling, private practice, and group counseling for transgender adolescents. I also host my own mental health podcast, Kare With Korac!

If I were to describe my primary therapeutic orientation using clinical language, it would reside somewhere in between the Client Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, and Solution Focused Therapies.
I have clients that come to therapy for a wide range of issues. Most often, client goals begin with relief from pain, sadness, guilt, shame, confusion, addiction and many other symptoms related to distress. I have found that many clients who seek therapy are surprised to learn how past and present are related and how someone can influence future through choice, meaning, and intentional use of personal strengths. I am passionate about keeping the therapeutic relationship collaborative and empathic, while striving to weave empirical interventions with hope and perseverance.

I often draw from experiential, strategic, existential and narrative approaches, and may consciously blend a combination of these approaches to best serve you.
Do you find the state of the world overwhelming, or question your purpose in life? Are you exhausted from fighting with your partner, but don't want to give up on the love you share? Or maybe, your family is having a hard time coping with a member coming out LGBT+? Whatever unique challenges you're facing, it's important to me to contribute to creating an atmosphere where you feel welcomed and comfortable to share what's going on. My goal is to collaborate with you to make the changes you desire more manageable.

There are all kinds of reasons for seeking counseling. The ones we think of most have to do with mental health: depression, suicidal thoughts and urges, anxiety, grief, and navigating life transitions. There are plenty of other reasons as well, whether relational, existential, spiritual, et cetera. Common among all these listed and unlisted reasons is the theme of a problem, question, difficulty, hope for change and/or insight.

I draw from several perspectives including, mindfulness, humanistic, existential, and cognitive-behavioral.
I am a licensed professional counselor with experience working with individuals, families and groups. I enjoy working with clients of all ages, but I have a special affinity for early adolescents and teenagers. My experiences as an educator serve as the foundation for working with these clients and their families. I use a client-centered approach and believe my clients are experts in their own lives. I view my role as therapist as a facilitator who assists clients in discovering their own truths and gaining a deeper sense of themselves.

I am trained in EMDR, DeTur, Addiction Counseling, CBT, DBT, Existential, Somatic, Gestalt, and I have many years of lived experience.
I believe we make decisions based on the information available to us at the time. Our “information” comes from our interpretation of life experiences forming a narrative of who we are. When that narrative is no longer useful, no longer provides comfort, or no longer helps us cope, we may begin to experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or addiction. My goal is to provide clients with a safe, non-judgmental space to explore how the past may be limiting enjoyment and fulfillment in life, identify coping strategies that are working and offer additional suggestions, and set goals that match the client’s desires.

I utilize a variety of depth therapies including psychodynamic, existential, and dream work.
Do you feel empty, disconnected, ashamed, or like no one truly understands you? Difficult, traumatic, and challenging experiences are a normal part of being human and can cause us to end up feeling alone and isolated. I believe in the healing power of connection, where being truly seen, heard, and accepted by another empowers you to find a sense of wholeness and true acceptance of self. Through creating a collaborative, safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space, my goal is to walk with you into true connection with yourself and others, and to find a sense of deep resonance and healing within your heart and soul.

Hi there! I am a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the field. My experience has allowed me to bring a deeper perspective to situations, and I know the value of giving that feedback to my clients. I utilize a variety of approaches like CBT, EMDR, Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. I had a thriving practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, but chose to live in beautiful and active Boulder instead. Because I just recently opened my practice to in-person clients here, I have openings!

I primary focus on existential therapy, EFT, and ACT therapy but understand that everyone is unique.
I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal; with time, patience, and the right tools, individuals can tap into their innate capacity for growth and transformation. They can emerge from their struggles with newfound strength, insights, and hope. We all possess the strength and resilience needed to overcome our challenges and find healing. I will be here to provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment where you may feel safe to freely express your thoughts and emotions.

I help people with trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use issues. Oftentimes these problems emerge from a mix of causes that require more than one type of therapy to address. My approach combines developing tools and skills to help cope and change behaviors, identifying and changing unhelpful beliefs or thinking patterns, connecting with your feelings and emotions to be more self aware and know when you need to use the coping tools, working through your unique history to update the stories you have about yourself and your life, and reprocessing the painful memories and emotions that you may have been holding for years.

Do you ever feel trapped by the day’s tasks and doubt your ability to make it through them? Do you feel like you’re just going through the motions while being weighed down in the process? Perhaps you find yourself saying, “I’m tired” a lot as an excuse for your low mood or become quiet because you don’t have the energy to talk. Have you been told to “snap out of it” or that depression is an excuse or something one “chooses” to get? Maybe you find yourself using your phone excessively because – let’s face it – sometimes it’s easier to hide our struggles online.

Accepting new clients (in-person and telehealth)! I believe that wherever you are in your life journey you are capable of change, restoration, and growth. Therapy can be the perfect vehicle for the change that you would like to create by providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment to connect and talk. Maybe you would like to experience more self-acceptance, more hope, less stress, or less anxiety. You deserve healing, and you don't have to walk the path towards a more whole version of you alone.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
