I primarily work out of the Existential Theoretical Model, but incorporate DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassionate interventions.
Happy and sad. Easy and confusing. Lonely and overcrowded. Being human is a complicated experience. Therapy offers a chance to find an unbiased, gentle, and compassionate space to explore life’s challenges, while identifying balancing counterpoints. Taking a two-pronged approach, in therapy together we will explore your broader, deeper difficulties, while learning practical emotional and cognitive tools to help navigate daily life.

It is my focus, as a therapist, to create a safe, supportive and confidential environment in which all feel fully accepted. I believe non-judgment, respect and genuineness are key ingredients towards creating an authentic connection which sets the stage for healing to unfold. My specialties include working with adults to help them access their own internal resiliency, learn healthier ways of coping, becoming more self-aware and improve behavior. My treatment approach is working within a Humanistic model. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential and Family Systems approaches are utilized as well.

I have extensive training in humanistic/existential modalities.
Welcome. Are you ready for the work necessary to make real, enduring change? Do you have a troubling personal issue or suffer from general dissatisfaction? My orientation is to focus on the unconscious, the elusive essence of the problem. A powerful process unfolds when change occurs at this level of the mind. This opens the space for authentic personal transformation.

I also click well with clients who are interested in existential questions, e.
Congratulations! You have made a very important decision in your life - you decided to invite professional help into your life. The reasons behind your decision can vary. It can be your feeling of loneliness, difficulties to "fit in", or maybe the demons from the past affecting your life today and you feel like you stuck? Or the main goal you've had all your life seems more and more unreachable and you feel like a failure? Whatever it is, you are the only one who has the answers. You are the only expert of you. But sometimes these answers are buried too deep, so you need professional help to reach them.

My approach focuses on the whole personality, utilizing the therapeutic alliance to awaken individual capacities for positive change, incorporating insights from gestalt, existential and archetypal psychology.
Therapy is a collaborative relationship, as individual as the people in the room. Often the work involves slowing down and creating a secure space for being open, curious and able to revisit and make sense of thoughts, memories and feelings that give rise to present difficulties. I'm especially attentive to your higher powers of perception and positive self determination. Together we resolve present-day problems with roots in the past, changing patterns that produce familiar and unwanted results so you are freer to choose the life you want.

I utilize an eclectic approach that includes attachment, psychodynamic, existential, and evidence-based modalities to ensure that you will meet your goals.
Therapy is for everyone. Some attend due to symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other specific disorders; others seek help when experiencing social, familial, academic, or occupational difficulties; and still others pursue therapy to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their purpose. While the path of every individual is unique, all can benefit from feeling seen, heard, understood, and validated; along with learning healthy coping mechanisms; developing communication and problem-solving skills to successfully address present and future challenges; and accomplishing objectives on the path to achieving self-actualization.

We will talk too! My approach is direct, relational, existential and warm.
I am here to remind you, you are not broken, even if your mind may be suggesting that you are. It is probable that these thoughts are connected to trauma—a way to make sense out of how uncomfortable you feel in your own body. Trauma can impact our health, body, emotions, relationships, perception of self and reality. Somatic Therapy may support you finding some relief in being you. Let's begin to explore and integrate what's causing this pain and psychological suffering without bypassing or minimizing your experiences. Your body has the wisdom to provide the answers. We may need to listen, honor and acknowledge its truth.

I work with teens, children, and adults struggling with unresolved trauma, relational issues, existential fear, grief, gender dysphoria, self-harm, addiction, anxiety, and depression. I work from a psychodynamic lens, which means looking at my client’s past as a means of informing the present and helping them discover the unconscious blind spots that unknowingly contribute to their distress. I am passionate about helping to reconcile past trauma such as abuse, bullying, oppression, and toxic relationships. I also work with families and couples stuck in destructive patterns and having the same fight over and over.

While I enjoy working with both individuals and couples, I particularly enjoy helping clients who have trauma histories, who desire healthier relationships, or who are engaging with questions around identity, sexuality, spirituality, or existential life questions.
I'm passionate about helping people explore their stories in creative ways to empower them to live fully and authentically. In therapy, I create a safe and sacred space where people can understand both their power and their pain, heal from the wounds and trauma of their pasts, and move forward in their lives into meaning, freedom and wholeness. I have an active, engaged, personal and empathic style, and I strive to help my clients feel comfortable and known.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
