I primarily use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy); and also use an integrative and eclectic approach utilizing elements of CBT, and existential theories.
It’s hard being human. In our short window of time on earth we will have moments of great joy and beauty, but also experiences of sadness, stress, and pain. We are confronted with a difficult problem - how do we deal effectively with a reality that spans all different feelings and experiences? Often we deal with them in ineffective ways that leave us feeling worse off than when we started. There is hope, however. Together we can work together to recognize the patterns you're stuck in, learn skills to manage difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively, and work towards a rich and meaningful life.

Rooted in existential, narrative, and person-centered therapy, my gentle and steady approach provides a safe and open environment in which change and healing can occur.
Life is messy. We all struggle. No one is exempt. Throughout each of our unique journeys and paths, the challenges, detours, and great barriers we face are an inevitable part of that experience. And at some point we all need to stop and take time—time to care for ourselves, time to reevaluate what’s important and where we’re heading. For you, maybe that time is now. Maybe you're experiencing depression, anxiety, confusion, or loss—but you don't have to do it alone. I can help support your journey back to personal power as a companion, witness, and non-judgmental guide.

It is not easy being a parent, partner, earner or individual in the fast paced, competitive world of northern NJ and NYC. We can feel anxious, depressed, uncertain or lost in how we think and feel about ourselves, our relationships, our families, and our professional lives. We can want to make healthy and effective changes, but sometimes that can be hard to do alone and we need a trusted other that has the expertise to help us untie the knots we are caught in. Many of my clients are successful, but struggle with certain issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting, and professional life challenges.

There is little in this life I have found more uplifting then helping people overcome challenges and return to experiencing life in the present moment, where there is true peace, joy, and stillness. I believe in the power of each individual to take control of their lives and in doing so - accomplish their goals, feel happy, present and alive. We all benefit from connecting to a trusted source we can share deeply personal things with, opening ourselves in vulnerable ways with no risk of judgment. I take great pride in being that person for many and am blessed to do this work. This is my gift and I look forward to sharing it with you.

How brave of you to be searching for a therapist. Getting to this point often means the struggles you face have gotten to a point of affecting your quality of life; and admitting this can feel defeating. At the same time, if you’re here, you know therapy can be an opportunity to improve your well-being. By collaborating with me, we can build an understanding of your struggles and work through embracing meaningful growth and change. My twenty years experience in the mental health field has taught me that the most significant change and healing comes from within the client, and can be fostered through a supportive therapeutic rapport.

If you’ve been feeling discouraged, disconnected, or constantly comparing yourself to others, maybe it’s time to talk to someone. Therapy offers a nonjudgmental space where the priority is building an affirming therapeutic relationship that lets us move at your pace toward your goals. I work with adults of all ages and walks of life who are facing life transitions, struggling with self-esteem, feeling stuck and “going nowhere,” or coping with past trauma. You’ll be able to discover the patterns that show up in your everyday life, identify the tools and wisdom you already possess, and heal the parts of you that need attention.

Hi! I'm a licensed counselor in NJ and CA working for 14 years with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. I believe in a client centered approach where a safe, open environment is created and my client(s) is part of creating the counseling process. I utilize an integrative approach, pulling from different techniques that are best suited for a client's preferences and/or needs with a focus on client strengths. Progress looks like a client having more clarity and awareness of self, stability and calm within, harmony with how they interact with others and the world around them, and the ability to achieve desired goals.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
