I offer psychodynamic therapy to adults in the midst of any variety of problems in life, such as difficulties in relationships or work, feeling stuck in anxiety and depression, negative feelings about oneself, trauma, accepting oneself or feeling ashamed, hurting oneself or wanting to hurt oneself, and feeling demoralized about or unable to go after what one wants in life. You and I will work together to identify the things you are grappling with and figure out their causes, as well as the obstacles to change. This happens in an atmosphere of acceptance which promotes dialogue and an exploration of the self.
My approach focuses on the nuts and bolts of problems and their solutions, as well as what these things may represent to you. Each person’s difficulties often blend aspects of their particular history with what is going on today; some of which the person may be aware, some of which may be outside awareness, or unconscious.
I emphasize creating an atmosphere where it ultimately feels safe to take the risk of exploring and expressing oneself in the context specific to each person. I attempt to understand ways in which you experience the world (and by extension your interactions with it) while making new channels for emotions and communication.
