Announcement icon Due to the current Corona virus situation, I am suspending in-office sessions, and am offering Video Counseling sessions on Zoom.
In this time of Social Distancing, you may be struggling with poor communication, a lack of emotional connection, an emotional or physical affair, or just need a tuneup because you are drifting apart and living like roommates. I offer Virtual Counseling for couples, using the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a "nuts-and-bolts," a research-proven approach for improving relationships. Based on John Gottman's 40 year research on what makes relationships succeed or fail, these techniques will give you tools to deepen friendship and intimacy, to manage conflicts and "resolvable problems" and dialogue about "gridlocked" ones.
There are three counseling phases: Assessment, Treatment and Phasing Out. The Assessment phase lasts three sessions when you are seen as a couple and individually. There is an extensive online evaluation which will give us an x-ray of your relationship. In the third session, I will give you my recommendations and help you define goals for your counseling.
In the Treatment phase, which usually lasts 3 to 10 one-hour sessions, you will learn how to change destructive and aggressive habits of communication, increase your emotional and physical intimacy, and learn how to argue fruitfully. Most couples "graduate" after ten sessions, and can always return for a "tuneup."

Professional Connections

I have always considered Eugene Kayser to be a very accomplished and effective therapist. Over the years I have known him, I have been impressed by his compassion and commitment to helping individuals and couples, as well as his practicality in achieving therapeutic goals. His training and skills are very evident in the way he facilitates sessions, and works with his clients to enable them to change and thrive. A common question among therapists is whether you would send someone you knew to a particular therapist. In the case of Eugene I would have no hesistation in referring anyone I knew to him. I recommend him without reservation for anyone seeking a quality therapist. Kevin J. Drab, M.A., M.Ed. LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

My first impressions of Gene were of his warmth, calm demeanor and sense of humor, when we were family therapy students at Hahnemann University. He has since built a reputation as a trusted advisor in the community on years of solid clinical work and these enduring qualities.
