In therapy, it's often said to do what works because patients often present with unique conditions that require special thought. Cognitive behavioral therapy is the foundation of my treatment as it offers the best results I've seen with the adult population I have treated in recent years. However, I also draw on my experience in a more psycho-dynamic treatment world of the past.
I draw on my experience evaluating geriatrics and first-break psychotic young adults and treatment of young dually diagnosed individuals and their families. Teaching group therapy and treatment planning in a graduate psychology program certainly helped me to learn and grow. I'm a team player who encourages the use of outside resources.
I anticipate resistance and setbacks, believe in short-term treatment, and discourage dependence on me. I aim to establish attunement whenever possible and speak the language of one's inner felt experience, one that may not have been put into words before we met.
