My name is Erin Thomas-Donaldson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor; I have been working in this field for over 5 years. I have previous experience in working with acute patients in mental health hospitals, substance use, and trauma. I have extensive experience in working with military and their families. I have a particular passion for working with adolescents and adults within the LGBTQIA+ community. I work most frequently with veterans and Active-Duty Service Members, adolescents within the LGBTQIA+ community, and those who are having difficulties with suicidal ideations.
I am a very relaxed and easy-going therapist. I like to make sure the client is as comfortable as possible. I want to ensure the client wants to come back to therapy. Clients are in charge of their own therapy. The client sets their own goals and I help them to achieve those goals.
I wanted to become a therapist because I grew up in a tumultuous family system and I know how it feels to not have the resources needed to help myself. I also know what it feels like to watch someone I care for struggle with substance use and mental health and not know how to help them.
