Much of my background and specialization is in adapting evidence-based psychotherapies, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT and CBT) for a variety of conditions or challenges that people may face. I also have some specialization in working with neurodivergent individuals (including the autism spectrum), as well as an in-depth background in addressing the effects of trauma. In addition to individual therapy, I provide couples and family therapy. Much of my couples/family works centers around increasing understanding of each other as well as more effective ways of relating to each other.
Though a good part of the work that we might do involves developing more adaptive coping skills than may come naturally to you, another big goal of is to increase self-understanding and self-validation, which are essential for learning to experience your emotions as they are without making them, or the situation, worse.
If you think that I may have the background and approach that you are looking for, please feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. It's important to get an idea of fit before moving forward!
