Erika Surkin, MEd, Psychologist in Chester Heights
I look forward to working with you and your child (ages 2-18) to solve life's issues. I am a licensed psychologist and Registered Play Therapist with over 30 years of experience, both in private practice and school settings. Play Therapy is the most effective way to communicate with children and adolescents. Once a positive and trusting relationship has been established, I utilize a variety of directive and non- directive therapy techniques to aid in exploration and resolution of social and emotional issues. Parenting solutions are an integral part of this process.
Play therapy is an experiential therapeutic approach that is effective with most clients, regardless of age. Toys are a natural draw for some clients, while art, music, puppetry, and animal assisted therapy work well with others. Monthly parent meetings address parental concerns and parenting solutions.
