I believe that as we evolve and grow, our connections with ourselves, others and the world around us can become deeper and more fulfilling. However, when we are under stress, in a relationship crisis, or feel anxious or depressed, our connections to our loved ones and to ourselves are limited. We may be unable to communicate, feel angry, lack energy and feel overwhelmed. In order to relieve life's pressures, it is important to slow down, and become more self-aware--reconnecting with ourselves once again. Counseling fosters trust, and is a process that promotes growth and change.
In our work together, we will identify the areas of your life that you would like to improve. We utilize an integrative approach to therapy, combining cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness strategies with interpersonal theories. We will work together to develop techniques, skills and new ways of understanding obstacles as opportunities.
I enjoy the beginning phase of treatment when we work together to identify the specific areas of emotional pain, become clear about the goals you want to accomplish, and discuss the ways therapy can help. If you are new to therapy, I encourage you to reach out and we can talk about how therapy could work for you.
Take the first step to help. Erich H. Heintzen now

I work with clients who may be struggling with a lot of issues such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, etc. But these are usually symptoms that appear from a deeper core issue that is unresolved. In our work together, we will explore the deeper areas that are usually buried or subconscious. When we find and treat the underlying issues, the symptoms are relieved.

My two major approaches are trauma informed therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Internal Family Systems focuses on your internal family of 'parts' that are working together to help you navigate life. Sometimes these parts are overactive, or are not functioning optimally, which is not allowing your true Self to be in charge of your thoughts and behaviors.
