My path here took a less direct route than most. After completing a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. studying philosophy and religion, I spent ten years working with an underserved population in a conflict-ridden part of the Middle East. Following the unexpected departure from international work, I found myself in an unplanned career as a licensed builder. It was this "wrong turn" into the construction trades that greatly informed my current work. I saw the silent struggles of men, their incredible reluctance to reach out for help and the affect it had on their family.
Human beings are biologically wired to have human connections. The nature of these relationships, particularly within our own family, play a significant role in shaping what we believe about other people and what we believe about ourselves. Consequently, when these relationships are not what they should be, it can cause significant distress in our lives.
I specialize in couples and family therapy, but also work individually with both men and women. Facing problems can be extremely difficult, but I have found visiting a painful past or walking through a difficult present is a journey best made in the company of another.
