Hi, I am Erica Feldman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am based in the Bay Area and have been a psychotherapist for nearly 20 years. In addition to my own private practice started six years ago, I have worked in settings such as outpatient mental health, behavioral health navigation, hospice/bereavement, and with veterans. My style reflects the various professional experiences I've had; at the foundation is always a client-centered approach. It's important to listen to what the client's goals are, and together we determine the best style for them with my expertise.
I use a variety of CBT and ACT-based strategies, especially for clients who want concrete outcomes, such as reducing anxiety, coping with chronic illness or pain, etc. My communication style is direct, warm, and supportive. I favor an interactive dynamic and provide a safe space to listen and get to know clients.
A first session involves starting a professional relationship; I like to be curious about why someone is coming to therapy. I am always glad to answer questions about my style and experience, as we get to know each other. I ask questions based on initial assessments and generate a discussion.
