I work with clients who have various types of trauma, and its effects on the individual and their environment. My experience in the field began with providing therapy for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental heath disorders. I have worked with people who suffer with many different forms of trauma and traumatic experiences. I have also work with clients dealing with loss and grief. I have an extensive experience working as a first responder (firefighter, paramedic, and police officer) before I entered in to my career as a counselor. I also specialize in working with first responders and their unique needs.
I am well trained in Client-Centered Therapy, providing proven skills and empirical techniques. My philosophy is you are the expert of your life. I focus on helping clients learn, explore, and become empowered to change their own behaviors. I also conduct Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD) for 1st Responders nd the general public.
I have previous work experience in law enforcement, fire fighting and as a paramedic. This gives me a unique ability to relate to those who serve in the first responder field. I understand the personal and professional affects this work can have on the individual and their environment.
