Those I work with describe me as receptive and kind, yet extremely engaged and at times even challenging. I am not a passive listener; my therapy work takes the form of an active, two-way dialogue. While my style is warm, informal, and truly nonjudgmental, I believe it is often essential for our default positions to be questioned within a safe context. Good therapy provides the help of someone trained to see and artfully communicate what we sometimes cannot see ourselves. The therapeutic relationship must be compassionate, open-hearted, and enjoyable, yet honest, even when such honesty is challenging.
I've devoted my professional life to it because I believe so deeply in the value of the therapy experience. Sometimes therapy is not useful. But when a client is committed to the process and the therapist fit is right, it truly can be transformative. I've seen it repeatedly.
I work with individuals, couples, and groups of all backgrounds. My style results from the influences of several schools of thought, including psychodynamic, interpersonal, and existential theories; cognitive-behavioral approaches to change; and Eastern psychology. I also believe a sense of humor is essential in therapy, as it is in life.

Groups
General Therapy Group
The groups I run are not built around any single "theme." Instead, the common elements that bring members together is a desire for growth and a shared commitment to an experiment in authenticity. They offer a safe, supportive, and at times challenging space for people to talk about their experiences and explore how they go about relating to others. These groups are ideal for those who wish to gain better insight into patterns within their intimate relationships, and learn how to cultivate closer, more satisfying, more nourishing ones.
