About

Through a comprehensive approach, I work with families and couples to create safety and security in their relationships. I have spent over 6 years working with both male and female survivors of domestic violence. While working with this population, I noticed three distinct factors: The ubiquity of abuse, the silence and shame that surrounds it, and the resilience of the survivors. Having the privilege to come alongside with this population has increased my passion for working with both adults and children in regards to abuse, shame, and freedom from their respective pasts.
I specialize in marriage and family therapy, which includes family and marriage counseling, adolescent counseling, divorce care, re-marriage, blended family issues, sex addiction, and general mental health. To best understand the family, it is necessary to look at it in its entirety - not just at one or some of the parts.
I will implement various techniques and tools in a manner specifically tailored to each individual and family. I have received training as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT-C), The LifeSTAR Sexual Addiction Recovery Program, EMDR, and I am a trained Gottman Method Therapist and have specific training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).

Eric Schultz's Groups

LifeStar Phase I: Getting Started

The LifeStar program is designed to provide addicts and their families with the tools and support to find hope, healing, and lasting recovery from sexual addiction and compulsive behaviors. LifeStar Phase I is a six-week educational workshop for individuals and couples impacted by pornography and sexual addiction. Through individual and group therapy, addicts learn how to reclaim their lives, reestablish trust, and restore hope in their future. Effective and long-lasting recovery is more than temporarily stopping the behavior. Effective therapy addresses the underlying issues in creating a permanent, long lasting recovery.

LifeStar Phase II

Phase II shifts from an educational approach, to a 'working recovery' approach. Participants will complete tasks and assignments, and hold one another accountable. These tools and principles lay the groundwork required for lasting recovery. The workbooks in Phase II focus on providing a deeper look at denial, the addiction cycle, fantasies and objectification, relapse prevention, and healthy living. Participants stay in Phase II until they have established a solid sobriety, are implementing an effective treatment plan - including a network of support - and have a detailed understanding of their addictive system.

Band of Brothers

"Band of Brothers" is a group therapy experience developed for teenage boys who are compulsive in their use of pornography or other sexual stimulants. The program is based upon the pioneering work of Patrick Carnes, Pia Mellody, Claudia Black, Jon Bradshaw, Rob Weiss, and other professional clinicians who have researched this topic over the past 30 years. Why it is superior to other interventions: We have an established system for participants to track their growth in recovery. There is a high level of collaboration within our program between therapists. The program is updated to reflect current science and research.
