Whether working with couples, adolescents, families, or adult individuals, I see the therapy room as a place for clients to discuss the parts of themselves and their lives that they can’t talk about anywhere else. My approach is open, playful, and creative. As we work together to identify and address the parts within yourself that may be anxious, overly protective, or deeply wounded, you will be better able to be the wisest, most mature version of yourself.
As a couples and family therapist, I coach clients to speak from their softer emotions and listen to one another with empathy and understanding, without getting defensive. As an individual therapist, I help clients to overcome challenges such as anxiety and depression and to identify the lives they most want to lead.
I have trained extensively in child and adolescent therapy, narrative and couples therapy, and sex therapy. In addition to my work as a therapist, I am an author and an adjunct associate professor of writing at Pratt Institute. I often use my experience as a writer and teacher to help clients channel their own creativity to improve their lives and work.
