Most of my experience revolves around working with children and family issues. Family conflict, child non-compliance, adoption issues, anger, depression, and anxiety are all areas I'm comfortable working with. I am also a gender therapist and work with transgender clients. I follow the World Professional Association for Transgender Health's guidelines.
My primary orientation is Adlerian. I work with clients by helping them to explore their unconscious beliefs. These beliefs may lead to increased conflict with family members, discomfort, dissatisfaction, anger, anxiety, and depression. Once insight into one's unconscious is gained, I walk with the client as they refine cognitions.
I treat clients who have problems. I define "having problems" as "being uncomfortable with the situation." All to often, therapy focuses on trying to change someone who has no interest in changing. I work with the most motivated person in a family to maximize the benefits of therapy.
