Eric B Spiegel, PhD, Psychologist in Philadelphia
I specialize in working with anxiety, relationship concerns, and trauma. With an expertise in clinical hypnosis, I will help you: (1) improve your reflective awareness of how your feelings and thoughts impact your well-being, relationships and behaviors and (2) enhance your coping and stress management skills to deal with your problems more effectively. As we build our therapeutic relationship, I will challenge you to observe yourself and reflect. Together, we will work collaboratively to facilitate positive change in your life and relationships. Enhancing your wellness is central to my work.
Relational psychotherapy, attachment theory, and clinical hypnosis are three cornerstones of my professional identity. Utilizing these influences, I facilitate clients' clinical growth by: (1) improving self-soothing and internal self-regulation, (2) strengthening the positive connection between mind and body and (3) creating healthier patterns of relating with others.
I am certified as an Approved Consultant in clinical hypnosis by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), and integrate hypnosis in working with anxiety, habit control, insomnia, pain, self-esteem, trauma, and other concerns. I am also co-author of the book 'Attachment in Group Psychotherapy', published by APA.

Eric B Spiegel's Groups

Relationship Group

This group focuses on general relationship issues, such as communication, commitment, and trust. Membership in the group is open, which means that adults of all ages, sexual orientations and relationship statuses are welcome. In addition to examining relationship issues, this group focuses on interpersonal interactions between the group members, with an emphasis on greater awareness of "process," or how we relate to one another both verbally and non-verbally. One of the goals for this group is to help members develop greater awareness of their interactions in relationships. This group is currently active, but new members are still being accepted.

Coping with Anxiety & Stress Group

This group will focus on daily anxieties and phobias. The purpose of the group is to share these fears and worries in a group setting, and receive useful feedback. The group will be mostly experiential in nature, but will incorporate some didactic techniques. This group is currently in the process of forming, which means that the day and time are subject to change. At this point, I am trying to recruit enough people to begin, and then we will finalize the scheduling. Regardless of the final day/time, group will meet weekly for 60 minutes.

Adolescent Peer Relationship Group

This group is targeted towards high school students, ages 15-18. The focus of this group will be on peer relationships, specifically repetitive behaviors and patterns that lead to successful and unsuccessful outcomes. Issues of acceptance, isolation, and rejection will be explored. This is a process group, which means that members will work "in the moment" to provide useful feedback to one another. This group has yet to begin, which means that the day and time are subject to change. Regardless of the final day/time, group will meet weekly for 90 minutes.
