I am Solution-Focused, EMDR trained, Queer, Feminist, and passionate about Critical Race Theory and systemic injustice. My clients struggle with internal shame and boundary setting that often gets in the way of them achieving their goals. I focus first on practical solutions, while analyzing my clients for patterns and traumas that are keeping them stuck. Guiding clients through complex traumas, I restore hope and self-esteem (it’s easier than you think; and often fun.) Together, we navigate the challenges of self-discovery, fostering joy, curiosity, and empowerment. I help people move from survival mode to thriving.

Parents, you've likely seen a shift in your child. It appears something has changed, but you're unsure what it is. I get it. As a parent, you want your child to feel confident, secure, and safe - from society, anxiety, social media, bullying, and unfortunate circumstances. The truth is... events, people, and things have affected them, but getting your child to open up and divulge all that is happening inside is VERY difficult. I understand! Sometimes the most confident child still can't find the words to say. Certain feelings and emotions live deep within your child. You're not alone, and I can help uncover the ROOT.

I am not currently taking new clients. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is based on careful listening and honest feedback. I help clients cultivate authentic relationships in their lives; both with themselves and others. I work collaboratively with clients to identify and achieve their goals by meeting them where they are in the present moment.

My areas of expertise include: depression, anxiety, adjustment/relational issues, self-esteem, and trauma. Treatment is tailored to each individual person. A holistic therapy approach is utilized, which is the combination of contemporary and alternative treatments with evidence-based practices to assist a person in achieving balance in mind, body, and energy. A deeper understanding of the whole self can lead to increased self-awareness, self-esteem, self-acceptance, and emotional/physical well-being.

Do you have counterproductive behaviors that create more issues than they solve? Do you recognize maladaptive thought patterns that disrupt and hinder you from reaching your goals? Only by taking the time to explore your inner-workings, can you begin to identify and eradicate what doesn’t work by developing strategies & moving towards what does, allowing a healthy authentic adult version of you to emerge. I personally believe it's the struggles we endure and the obstacles we overcome that create our character.

I have come to know myself as a lover of curiosity, an avid outdoors person, and someone who has an intense interest in better understanding the unique experiences of each person. My work in healing has spanned more than fifteen years and my practice in mental health has been improving for more than five years. I have developed a deep respect for relationships, individuals, and the practices that shape our lives. My experience has me coming to understand that only through asking questions and listening closely can we come to really understand our situation and be seen for who we really are.

If you want to chat and get something off your mind or put it ease, I'm here to support you. Maybe you're looking to become more confident and loving of yourself or you feel stuck and want to move forward but just can't seem to find a way to do it. I enjoy helping others learn more about themselves and how the world around us can really have a significant impact on mental health. Identity and attachment issues, addictions, past traumas, significant life transitions, and general anxiety and depression can be really overwhelming and it isn't always something you can do on your own. I work primarily with individuals 11-65 years old.

Energy Psychology Therapists

What are the roots of energy psychology?

Energy psychology is a relatively new modality, yet it combines older techniques from both Eastern and Western medicine—talk therapy and exposure therapy from a Western orientation and energy fields and healing touch from an Eastern orientation. Although these techniques have long existed, they were developed into today’s form of energy psychology and brought to the fore in the 1980s by psychologists including Fred Gallo, Roger Callahan, and David Feinstein.

Is energy psychology a short-term therapy?

Energy psychology is a brief intervention, designed to provide relief to patients quickly. The exact number of sessions a patient requires varies depending on numerous factors, including the condition being treated, the technique being used, and the practitioner's approach. Some patients may begin to improve after only one session. Proponents of energy therapy point out that it is relatively easy to learn, so clients can practice some of the techniques on themselves at home, such as the acceptance, acupressure, and affirmations used in emotional freedom technique.

Does energy therapy work?

The exposure therapy techniques involved in energy psychology, such as recounting a traumatic experience to the therapist, are evidence-based and have long helped individuals address trauma, phobias, and anxiety. As a whole, the practice isn’t as validated as other techniques, but it may be healing for some. Energy psychology involves exposing a client to a distressing memory, object, or situation in the therapy room while providing acupressure or tapping to relieve distress, which is thought to lower the stress and arousal of the body that had become associated with the relevant stimulus.

What are the limitations of energy therapy?

A disadvantage of energy psychology is that the research supporting its effectiveness is not as robust as research supporting the effectiveness of other therapy types, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy, specifically the component of body tapping and touching. Some research on energy psychology has also been critiqued for being methodologically flawed.
