I don’t believe there is one way to treat everyone…which is why using creativity and tailoring the process to exactly what you need is important.  Most therapists tend to fall back on techniques to try to help their clients manage their problems.  My approach is very different.  My approach is all about treating the root cause of anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma.  If you want to get rid of a weed you don’t just want to trim the top, you want to pull it out by the roots.  

I provide counseling services for people of all ages who are affected by symptoms of depression, anxiety, pain syndromes, and other conditions. Withdrawal, excessive worry, chronic pain, and substance abuse may be signs that a person is overwhelmed beyond their capacity to cope. Signs for youth in distress include school problems, aggression, drug/alcohol use, or isolation.

The coronavirus is continuing to impact our communities, as a therapist, I am very concerned about the mental health, well-being and safety of our families, friends and neighbors. Many of those I have met with are experiencing increased anxiety, stress, loneliness and depression. In an effort to help those who are struggling, I am continuing to see clients and I am accepting new clients. Are you struggling with some form of addiction? Addictions are very challenging to overcome, especially on your own. I have spent a great deal of time working with addictive disorders and working with adolescents and young adults. The crux of my approach is simple - you, the client, are the focus. Cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and play therapy round it out. I know modern research shows that addictions are a very real 'disease' or 'injury'. If you fell out of a tree and broke your bone, you would likely go to an Urgent Care center and have a medical doctor reset and cast the bone. The same is true for addictions.

I work with clients of all ages utilizing an integrative, strengths-based, individualized approach to therapy, often combining concepts of self-compassion, mindfulness, and acceptance to help you attain your goals. I specialize in working with adults (including couples) and older adolescents who are struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as other serious mental illnesses, including personality disorders. Many of my patients have difficulty managing intense feelings and moods in relationships and may have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. I also offer intensive psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy for highly motivated individuals looking to make deep personality-driven changes in their lives.
