Relationships are complicated and often bring emotional pain, loneliness, anxiety, and discouragement. Committing to someone requires courage and strength. I work with couples, families, and individuals applying the principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is a research-based treatment for clients seeking emotional connection and fulfillment in relationships. EFT helps clients understand the interactional patterns that cause emotional disconnection. I would love to offer you these tools, deeper understanding, and helpful insight as you seek to repair your most important relationships.

I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
The issues that arise in our lives can often feel like they are too big for us to handle. We can feel confused, beaten down, or overwhelmed. Life circumstances can lead us to a place where we feel alone and hurting. The most important thing to know when we find ourselves in these places is that you are not alone. Challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, and chronic stress can leave us all feeling lost. But you do not have to stay lost. You can begin your journey towards the life that you want for yourself and you don't have to go on that journey alone.

I'm trained in evidence-based approaches to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
My clients would describe me as easy to talk to, a great listener, honest, and informed. I find great value in creating a foundation of trust and comfortability so my clients can work to meet their therapeutic goals. Counseling is most effective when the client feels accepted and believes the therapist genuinely cares about the topics discussed during session. It is a privilege to be a part of one's journey to improve, change, or maintain aspects in their life. I truly care about each of my client's health and well-being.

I am a Contextual Therapist by training and have extensive training in Family Systems, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
My name is Renee Breazeale and I applaud your insight that has led you to seek support through a therapist. If you are looking for a collaborative therapist who believes each of us holds our own answers, then I would be honored to meet you! Let’s be transparent here – I am NOT a wizard, therapy is NOT a “one session & you are fixed” process, & you ARE in charge of your life! Will it be easy? Probably not... Will it be quick? Probably not... Will you figure some things out? You bet! I will be your ally, advocate, cheerleader, support, and objective voice. I will use my skills to help you find what you are seeking.

I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman methods into our work to explore emotions and communication skills to enhance your life experience and relational connections.
I enjoy helping individuals, couples and families find their way to healing and connection. We spend at least 12 years preparing for a career, but we don't learn how to do marriage or repair conflict. Together, we will work to consider the influences that form your attachment style, behavioral patterns, and beliefs about yourself and your surroundings. It is common to continue those familiar patterns into adulthood, which can create challenging dynamics in life and in relationships. Learning these skills early in your relationship can improve the quality of your connection for a lifetime.

Incorporating a blend of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, EFT, the Gottman Method, and narrative therapy, I empower clients to identify their treatment goals and move forward in their emotional journey to connection with themselves and others.
Have you been searching for a therapist who truly connects with you or your teen? You’ve tried different things, but the communication, relationships, and interactions in your family are just discouraging and frustrating. You’ve tried therapy before, and even considered more intensive treatment options for yourself or your child. You don’t know what else to do. You are not alone. It is possible to establish changes intra-personally and within relationships. Family harmony can be a reality.

I have training in energy psychology (EP), including Comprehensive EP, TFT, EFT, Healing Touch, and Foundations of Eden Energy Medicine.
I believe we're shaped by biological (heredity, diet, hormones), psychosocial (peers, family, job stress), and psychological influences (thoughts, self-esteem, perfectionism). Addressing the mind-body interaction is critical. I guide and teach, helping clients learn new skills such as meditation and meridian tapping to handle life stresses. Clients who best fit my style wish to let go of negative patterns of self-doubt, guilt, worry, and feeling "never good enough." My therapy focus is here-and-now, focusing on mind-body habits, to develop new behaviors, recondition brain connections, to go beyond mere understanding or insight.

I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a dynamic, research-based model of therapy that repairs damaged connections between people and those they love the most.
A connected, healthy, and successful marriage is possible. If your relationship has been knocked off balance or off course, I can help. Feeling desired, loved, and secure may have been a reality for you in the past and you aren't sure how to find it again. Perhaps that type of intimacy has eluded you, despite trying over and over to achieve it. But, it doesn't have to anymore.

I help people turn their scars into beauty marks with the use of EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Parts & Inner Child Work, Mindfulness practices & other Attachment-Based Modalities.
You know that saying “Never judge a book by its cover”? Well, I can honestly say that the cover of my book does not match the pages! The pages in my book of life have equipped me with the experience to connect with ALL people. In my book, I’ve encountered many conflicts. I’ve been the antagonist and the protagonist and I’m just in the rising action. Because my pages are not all filled with butterflies and sunshine, I’ve had to work to find ways to help equip myself with daily coping skills. I am happy to be in a position to share my experience with others through therapy and educational opportunities.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
