I believe we heal through relationship and I believe relational joy is profoundly therapeutic. I work with individuals, couples and children through a systems/attachment theory lens. I incorporate parts work, IFS, polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology and somatic integration. I'm particularly interested in supporting parents and children through family adjustment periods. When I work with couples I use a combination of EFT and RLT to explore relational dynamics that are getting in the way of supportive connection.

The first step is often the hardest part. At times, changing something about our situation can be helpful. Frequently, greater self-acceptance is what we need. Emotions and behaviors can be influenced by factors outside of awareness. Therapy works best when it feels like a safe place to engage in a process of curious exploration.

Not accepting new clients as I transition into maternity leave through January 2025. Shutting off the "inner critic" can often feel impossible. As such, most of the adults I treat struggle with negative beliefs about themselves in addition to anxiety/depression, body dysmorphia/low self-esteem, heartbreak/relationship problems or early attachment wounds/relational trauma. Supporting college students and young professionals who are navigating adulthood and the myriad of personal and professional challenges that can arise during this time is a passion of mine. I also enjoy supporting perfectionists and high-achieving individuals.

Ditch survival mode, reclaim your life. My clients struggle as you do. Despite being smart, determined, and kind, life is hard. When they first come in, they experience thoughts and emotions as too intense. They have trouble living in the moment and feel as though anxiety and worry have taken over their lives. While they're great at making people feel good, they struggle to do the same for themselves. Before therapy, my clients felt guilt and shame for struggling. Other people seem to have it all together, why can’t they? The pressure they put on themselves was pervasive. They felt exhausted trying to manage everything on their own.

Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit for you can be hard. And to add an extra layer of difficulty, you’re often trying to find a therapist when life is already hard enough. I enjoy providing therapy for teenagers and young adults experiencing: 1) grief and loss, 2) stress associated with major life changes, and 3) anxiety related to perfectionism or performance. While I am best trained to provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I usually integrate CBT with other types of therapy based on my clients' needs!

Do you often feel misunderstood? Have you been told to toughen up because you are "too sensitive"? Do you long to feel closer to others but feel overwhelmed by the task? Having the capacity for depth and complexity can be difficult to navigate in our competitive, linear-oriented, results-driven culture. Knowing and accepting yourself for simply "you" (not who others think you should be) is an important practice to cultivate and will help release toxic stress and shame, allowing you to connect more deeply with yourself and others.

Athletic culture often praises the ability to do it all, however, we all experience issues that cannot be masked or pushed aside. I provide athletes a place of understanding support to work through issues such as eating concerns, body image, anxiety, depression, injury, post-sports career, relationships, substance use, or traumatic events. Athletes devote tremendous time and energy to physical training, and I believe intentionality with mental health is just as important for improving quality of life, and for improved sports performance.

I support adults who are feeling stuck in patterns to gain clarity, build emotional awareness, and move toward new ways of being in the world. Talk therapy is a dynamic, collaborative process that I tailor to each client. Sessions are pragmatic, experiential, introspective, and challenging, to support you in healing, growing, and changing in meaningful ways. In any given session, we might include guided mind-body exercises, breathwork, memory processing, visual exercises, and just talking through it. We slow down and tune in in ways that most of us don't in daily life. I offer services to residents of Texas and Vermont.

Anxiety and trauma are a heavy burden, disconnecting us from our lives, loved ones, and our own sense of vitality and safety in our minds and bodies while trapping us in a persistent feeling of unease. If you are like my clients, you want to truly heal from this burden rather than just cover up symptoms and stay stuck in the cycle of an overwhelmed nervous system. To move past trauma and anxiety for good, we must foster safety in our lives, heal the source of our pain, and develop a felt sense of our own capacity to flourish. My practice is all about helping my clients through that process as a supportive companion and guide.

Counseling was once seen as something having to do with weakness. Now it used widely and routinely for gaining strength, new skills, making meaning out of one's life and living one's purpose. Living & loving fully and leading a life that matters has everything to do with finding the right mentors along the way for support and guidance in transforming vulnerability into strength. I help mamas, papas and adults who want proven skills to help themselves &/or their child succeed. And when families & individual adults experience ongoing stress, loss or trauma, having proven skills & tools is even more important--Help is here.

Now doing In Person Myofascial Release! Talk therapy will remain virtual. Let me help you make some big shifts in your life! I can help you to bring those unconscious beliefs into your awareness so you can change your behaviors that don't serve you anymore. As a body-centered therapist (LPC and LMT), I help people who may be stuck in their healing process and are in need of deep and active work. By utilizing both psychotherapy and Myofascial Release, I help clients heal more effectively.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
