The challenges facing men and women today are very different than they have been in the past. Our roles have changed drastically over the past several decades: in the home, in the workplace and in society at large. Many of us struggle to balance our increasing career demands with the emotional needs of our families and friends. I draw from my experience as a Wall Street executive and extensive clinical training, to help my clients identify important coping strategies which enable them to enjoy success in the business world, and improve their relationships with spouses, children and friends.

I also utilize Emotionally focused therapy for individuals (EFIT) which focuses on helping individuals accept, regulate, understand and express and change their emotions,.
Are you feeling overwhelmed and stuck in a negative pattern of anxiety or depression? Are you struggling to find your own voice? If so, individual therapy allows you to have a safe space to be heard and explore those feelings. I support individuals who struggle with low confidence and self-worth due to negative self-talk. I also help you identify your life traps to help you reach your full potential. Individual counseling is aimed at helping you overcome limiting beliefs, overcome destructive self-talk by learning healthy coping skills and developing new patterns of relating to self and others.

In addition to a Masters in Family Therapy, I have received training in multiple modalities including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Object Relations, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Clinical Hypnosis.
I treat anxiety, depression, loneliness, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I believe that our relationships, past and present, have a great impact on our wellbeing starting from childhood. Memories can remain embedded in our unconscious and surface in ways of self-defeating thoughts and actions. My style of therapy allows the understanding of what is at the root of the problem. I help my clients gain insight into who they are so that they can live an authentic and intentional life.

I have completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy through the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
As a psychotherapist, I feel privileged to work with people as they explore the challenges that bring them to treatment. I understand that it takes courage and vulnerability to take the first steps to contact a clinician and come to therapy. It is important to me that you feel safe during our work and that our collaboration is a good match for you. A positive therapeutic relationship creates the opportunity for insight, growth and fulfillment. I am an interactive therapist, who facilitates a treatment environment that is empathic, warm and supportive. I treat adolescents, adults and couples and provide both short and long-term treatment.

Thoughtfully blending EFT, differentiation, IFS, and psychodynamic frameworks, I help couples and individuals develop the self-awareness and skills to lead fulfilling lives.
Things at home are more stressful than ever—trying to find balance in the midst of endless demands is overwhelming. You are doing your best, but the whole house feels on edge, especially you and your partner. Certain pre-existing relational dynamics are now magnified and there’s a storm brewing inside of you. You're feeling angry, resentful and unsupported. You know you play a part in this dance, you’re ready to roll up your sleeves to right this ship, but can’t do it alone anymore. There's a part of you that knows you could be better and another part that is so lost. You need some clarity and guidance.

IFS Level 1 Trained - EFT Certified - ACT Therapist - Coaching - Are you feeling lost? Nervous about your future? Or society's future? Does your anxiety cause you to limit your participation in life? I can relate. I've been there. I see healing and transformation as a science, a process with a definite result if you put in the work. Think of it like the gym, if you go every day you get results. The same is true for overcoming mental blocks, spiritual awakening, inner healing, finding your true calling, forming or breaking a habit and designing your best life. But it is not mysterious; it is a process with predictable outcomes.

My approach to therapy integrates modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
The people I work with seek therapy for all the emotional turmoil life throws at you: pressures to perform, anxiety, marriage and premarital distress, trouble sleeping and changes in mood. Others I see come to therapy with a broader wish to understand their own nature, to see themselves and timeworn habits more clearly. In each case, my goal is not to simply fix problems in your life or marriage, but rather to help you gain control when it seems like the world around you is spinning. For couples, my goal is to move your relationship from distress to security, understanding and mutual trust.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
