My training is through Regis University with additional training in somatic psychotherapy and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy).
"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."   -Arthur Ashe-   There is no perfect time to get started with therapy. If you feel ready, I am here to be with you in your journey no matter where it leads. I support adults and couples navigating interpersonal communication struggles, relationship dynamics and transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, isolation, life transitions, and identity exploration. We’ll work together to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships and heal past wounds to open the door to a more enlivened everyday experience.

I am professionally trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the most effective model that currently exists for couples, and an incredible method for individual work! I’ve worked with many couples, families, and individuals, and had the honor of seeing them come through this process triumphantly.
Feeling disconnected and tired of having the same conversations with your partner over and over without reaching a resolution can be taxing on your relationship. I help couples who would like to transform their communication skills, resolve conflicts, and feel connected to their partner again. I also work with individuals who are looking for a safe place to process and heal their pain from past trauma and relationships, that want to move forward feeling confident and empowered, but are unsure where to start.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trauma and attachment-focused therapist who utilizes an individualized approach, informed by Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help my clients.
With recent neurological and attachment research, we are finding how connected the mind and body really are. We are also finding how important for a person's well-being it is to understand one’s identity and how we each fit in the world. I partner with my clients to develop a felt sense of security within themselves and the world. This felt sense is what will create the necessary resiliency to ensure a person can work through struggles that have been holding them back. Much of my background involves working with the Neuro-Diverse community and the LGBTQIA+ community.

I draw on Narrative Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy to consider how the stories we tell ourselves and the quality of our relationships can be two guiding lights as we consider how we want to live.
Maybe you are at sea amidst big change. Perhaps your relationship with sex and your body has become complicated by a limiting belief or a cultural message that is no longer serving you. In my own life, giving space to understand, without judgment, what is happening on an emotional level has given me space to grow with more acceptance and gentleness. I try and offer such a space to the people with whom I work and I believe it starts with a simple but often neglected truth: we are all deserving of care, from ourselves and from those we trust. I specialize in sex and relationship therapy.

For couples, I draw heavily on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to help you reconnect and heal.
Hi, I’m Lindsay, a queer relationship and trauma therapist. Life's hard sometimes. It's an oversimplified statement, but sometimes simplicity feels good in the midst of chaos and mess. Trying to make sense of family, relationships, medical care, and work environments in a heterosexist world is exhausting. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, haunted by the past, or just unsure of how to show up for your partner or for yourself, then you’re in the right place.

I utilize emotionally focused, cognitive behavioral, person-centered, Internal family systems, and humor in addressing things such as communication, identity, anxiety/depression, grief, and much more.
Schedule instantly through my website! (Link in profile). As a queer BIPOC individual, my passion is working with other individuals, relationships, and family systems of the queer and or BIPOC community. If you grew up in a culture that viewed mental health as taboo, you may be feeling alone and hopeless. Know that you are not alone in your journey. I believe that people and relationships can thrive if given the proper support, nourishment, and environment. We are all given the same tools, but how helpful can it be if we were never taught how to use them?

Though I specialize in couple's therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I also provide individual therapy to help you navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, and relational disconnection.
I have a true passion for helping people experience health and wellness in their relationships and in their lives overall. I believe that when our relationships are healthy, we create an environment that allows us to live more freely and more openly share ourselves with others. I understand the loneliness that develops when partners lose their close connection to each other and how frustrating it can be to have the same argument over and over again. I can help you understand your patterns, change them and create the type of relationships you've been longing for.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
