People love stories. And we all have them - stories that we believe about our abilities, our potential, and our past. These stories shape who we think we are and what we think we are capable of. But what if the stories are wrong? How do we find our true stories? When we experience trauma, we can develop unhealthy coping behaviors that support the stories. We might think that these behaviors are a part of our personality, but they are not; they are simply survival strategies. And while those strategies have helped us to survive trauma, they also affect our ability to form healthy relationships and to meet our goals.
First, we work together to determine your goals and needs. Then we explore and heal the parts of you that feel stuck, and reconnect you with the parts of you that already know what you are capable of. From there, we create new stories and strategies that support how you want to feel and behave as you move forward.
